Starman:what's that on your shirt?
This is one of my favorite scenes from Starman, it's not a particular fan favorite like the grand finale or maybe the talks with David, but still this is one my favorite scenes in it because to me this really defines the relationship between both men,Ted and Jack Knight and shows how Jack will grow as a character through out the series.

This is the turning point in the relationship for Ted and Jack because for most of the beginning Jack could be a bit of a snot when it came to what and who his Dad was a superhero, the fact that Jack is now a superhero contrasts him to his father but it also points out how similar they are. Before this Jack killed the son of the mist in battle and the guilt from the event becomes a minor theme throughout. I also like this scene because in comics you typically see people wear shirts that have a hero or a villain on them, but in their own universes wouldn't that be like putting say Charles Manson on a shirt? I mean the Joker is real in the DC universe imagine what it must be like for the victims to see that face on a t-shirt.

What, defeating Culp and an army of bad guys, and then choosing to retire from the job so he could be with his family? It was a good ending to me...

It's a series that ended 11 years ago, I hardly think that qualifies as a spoiler anymore.

DC is putting out the omnibus editions fairly regularly. The third one just came out last month.

Especially because the omnibuses include things like the short stories in Showcase (important for The Shade's history) and apparently the Shade mini.

I....really need to get that mostly cause the trades I have are so old and don't collect some of smaller pieces to the story like issue 36 the will payton starman story.

I think people should always err on the side of caution, unless we're talking Shakespeare or historical events.

Or historical events dramatized by Shakespeare.

Julius Caesar dies!

If it was a major plot twist I'd agree, I'd never spoil "Citizen Kane" the way a Peanuts cartoon strip spoiled it for me, but it wasn't a major surprise or a twist, it was a piece of character development at the end of the series. Even keeping on the safe side, I'd say it's no more a spoiler after all this time than "Dream of the Endless dies in the last storyarc of Gaiman's Sandman"

I wouldn't say that's keeping on the safe side.

Worryingly, a google shows you CAN get Charles Manson T-shirts, so it's not like there's no real world precedent.

Is that an evil Raggedy Andy on Starman's shirt?

Its image does remind me of Brother Power somehow

It's the original Rag Doll, an old Golden Age Flash and JSA villain.

He was originally a triple-jointed thief, but in Robinson's Starman series, he was shown as having gotten older and dropped out of thievery, but had a talent for appealing to the disenfranchised and ended up forming a personality cult which threatened Opal City. He was faced down by Alan Scott, Ted Knight and Jay Garrick, and threatened to find their families and kill him. They attacked him and he was believed dead for many years. He IS now dead.

Gail - write to your editor today. Don't let Ragdoll EVER appear in JLA as long as Robinson's writing, or heaven help us.

Why?

The Ragdoll in this is the father of the Ragdoll in Secret Six. The kid's a wreck because Daddy Dearest was a monster. I trust Robinson to get that.

It's the times man, it's the time, but besides that he seems to be at his best when writing about Golden age, that and I think he's one of those writers who's better when their stories are longer then six issues.

I'd say Robinson's still quite good on the Superman stuff, honestly.

Cry for Justice strikes me mainly a bad concept (and I can't help but thing that his editor might be part of the problem. I mean, ffs, it's Eddie bloody Berganza. The man's a walking disaster, killer of Young Justice, incompetent over-interfering editor for Dwayne McDuffie's JLA). Hal Jordan stomping off and forming an angry "proactive" Justice League? Yeah, no.
