She's a spy for Fury; she isn't really working with HYDRA.

It's good. All Nick has to do is take his shirt off and Val will snap out of it.

As she's just casually opened the handy "BOX'O'DOOM", are you sure? If Hydra have been running SHEILD for years, her being a high ranking HYDRA agent makes as much sense as anything. And since Fury is going on and on and on about how he only trusts certain people, it would make sense that one of the people he trusts, he really can't.

So we know someone in HYDRA's inner circle is a traitor.

And it's implied she's the one who pressed the panic button that brought Fury's Caterpillars.

Ya know, given the short list of suspects and her own past, you'd think that she'd be smarter than that.

They're being coy as to whether Val is spying FOR Fury or if she's betraying him, and presumably has been for some time. If it's the former, I will be mildly pleased. If it's the latter, well, I can't say I would be shocked considering the premise of this book is that everything we knew was wrong whether it makes sense or not, and we are living in an age where character and continuity are strictly secondary to the stories they want to tell RIGHT NOW. It would make me unhappy, yes, but at this point Marvel has done so much to make me unhappy that it's like kicking a dead puppy. It's mean and disrespectful, but the puppy at least can't feel it any more.

I can't praise this book enough. Hickman's writing and Bendis's plotting are spot-on, and Casselli's art is beautiful.

Yeah, I could definitely do without Daisy's whole "WHY DON'T YOU, MY SUPERIOR OFFICER WITH 7 DECADES OF COMBAT AND SPY EXPERIENCE, TELL ME, SOME CHICK WHOSE NAME YOU PROBABLY JUST DREW OUT OF A HAT, WHAT IS GOING ON?!?!"

Heh, just like Jesus.

"Ask, and ye shall recieve!"

"Okay. If your Dad's so great and all, why does he keep wiping out large masses of people who fall under specific criteria?"

"Shutupshutupshutup! I don't have to answer your questions! I'm going and getting crucified!"

"Great. Now I feel confused AND guilty."

Actually, that's one of the few things that make sense in this book.

Daisy's training means she's only above average in the game she's in. She's facing foes with superior training, firepower and experience. Nick Fury is the only buffer between her and a slow and painful death. And he's being a complete douche.

Nothing else about this series makes sense, though. How Hydra has been running Shield for decades, why Fury is relying on a bunch of wet behind the ears kids or how these kids are supposed to be from off the grid sources. Fury found them by asking social services!

IMO, there's no evidence that the writer has thought his plots through. And IMO, spy stories may not need airtight plots, they need to at least stand up to inspection. And Secret Warriors don't.

She's risked more than Fury has, and really is in far more danger. Things go south, Fury knows how to survive. Secret Warriors? Less so.

The team is called the Caterpillars. Secret Warriors refers to them, Hydra, the Commandos, and even HAMMER (sort of).

*Slaps Forehead*

Of course, what was I thinking! Gwen is blonde! She's the one leading the Dark X-Men!

And, of course, we'll find out that The Hood is in fact secretly Squirrel Girl. He's annoying, he seemingly can't be defeated, the other villains respect him, he acts like a little girl...isn't it obvious?

It's the Skrulls of today. Invasion of the Traitorous Hot Chicks. Sooner or later we'll discover that Dr. Doom's Mum, Mephisto, MJ, Jean Grey and Wanda Maximoff were all the same person wreaking devastating havoc on the Marvel U.

And then they'll all turn out to be the alternate personas of Typhoid Mary and she'll become the new head of S.O.C.K. (Strategic Offensive Crapfest Killers).

And then Bendis will finally have enough money for the operation.

That that one Headman.

A group Bendis wouldn't touch with a 15' pole, except to murder gruesomely to make one of his pet characters look more bad ass.

And thus failing.
