It's from Whatever Happened To The Caped Crusader, by Neil Gaiman. It's just a few months old, it should still be available from your LCS.

It's definitely worth reading. It's very odd, in the good way.

Considering how often Gaiman likes to make reference to the TV show(almost every time he uses the Riddler, for instance), I think it's an amusing touch that Alfred puts the greasepaint on over his mustache. A subtle touch I only just noticed.

Unlike Cesar Romero, Alfred apparently put it on thick enough to actually hide the moustache.

I remember this being posted in the old Scans Daily. I was like "wow...now that's messed up". Although if we logically follow this line, that would mean Alfred killed Jason Todd, and then he crippled Barbara and tortured Jim Gordon. Now, is that a bit of a stretch or what?

Jason Todd was another actor. He didn't actually die, he went to Hollywood to pursue his dream.

Barbara was paralyzed in a car accident. Alfred just spruced up the story for Bruce's benefit. As for the torturing her father bit, Bruce happened to find Jim's BDSM porn site at the same time, and Alfred had to spin it.

Ah, now I can see...clearly. Though the Commissioner's porn site is a nasty mental image, to say the least.

Is "Whatever Happened" a two-part story? If so, did I miss the second part? I remember this, and I remember Catwoman's story, but I don't remember how it ended. Issue nos plz?

Yes it was two parts. One part in Batman, one part in 'Tec.

"Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?" is two parts, great story by Neil Gaiman and beautiful art by Andy Kubert.
Part one is Batman #686, and part two is Detective Comics #853.
The pictures above and the story about catwoman are form part one.
It is collected into a hardcover edition now,

I still say this is the most terrifying page in comics I've ever seen.

MOTTO.

I think it's because Alfred is such a...a bastion of sanity in the angst-ridden mindfuck that the Batbooks can be. No matter what happens, no matter how many people get tortured or killed or maimed or driven mad or turned into supervillains, at the end of the night our heroes come home to Alfred and his cooking, his dry wit, and his sage advice. He's the solid rock holding the family together, and he always has been.

That Neil Gaiman can, in only a single page, twist that into something horrifying and yet still, gut-wrenchingly, completely plausible is a credit to his enormous talent. But it still scares the crap out of me.

Few people knew that the Joker was related to the Monopoly Guy. (See portrait over the fireplace)

Some believe this is the Omega Sanction, some the effects of death coming for Bruce, some the end result of a man floating in the Bleed. It could also be part of Bruce's LSD crazies from RIP. In the end... only Gaiman and Morrison know.

The only part of that I understood was "LSD."

THe came after Batman was killed b Darkseid with something called the Omega Sanction. I believe Darkseid called it the Death that is Life. So it' possible this is Bruce viewing every potential aspect of his life.

The Bleed is what the current DC multiverse is located in and it was at the heart of Final Crisis so it's possible he was shunted into it or something.

It's somewhat similar to a "What If" story, like "Superman: Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?" by Alan Moore.

Seconded, although this story as a whole was simply amazing. The rest were ok, but this one actually sounded really plausible. So much that you kept going "wait, hold on, I think I follow you..." when reading it.
