Wonder Woman #34
Ready for a Wonder Woman and Black Canary team-up?

Starting off from after the preview, skipped a page there, we find Diana and Dinah getting ready to infiltrate (what is assumed to be) Roulette's underground meta-fights. In the process of getting ready we find that Dinah is truly a master of disguise.

Brilliant!
And so, one ride in the invisible jet later, they're ready to put their camo to the test.

And they're in!
Yes, there is some bit of goings on over on Themyscira of note and some dwelling on deeper things but overal it was a pretty fun issue despite(because of?) a bit of the old cage match storyline and, if the last page is any indication, the next issue should be pretty fierce.

Beautiful! Except... "Rumpus McGoo," what?

Black Canary: "It's over, Deathstroke! I'm here to kick your Rumpus McGoo!"

Deathstroke: "I surrender instantly, on the condition that you never say 'Rumpus McGoo' ever again."

That should just be Black Canary's new outfit all the time. Pirate wench/ninja dual class? Yes please.

Ah, good ol' Roulette. Always good for a nice, inconsequential storyline with lots of Fisticuffs. She's like the only villain who actively wants the Heroes to find her, as they invariably end up fighting for her anyway.
She probably leaves business cards with helpful little directions to her latest scheme lying around all over the JLA & JSA headquarters.

Wow, fantastic. Can't wait to read the whole issue. I never really thought much about the pairing of these two. Much fun. Can we keep Black Canary on WW? Instead of GA?

I have made it my personal mission to use the words "Rumpus McGoo" as often as possible.

Also, I thought Starfire's and Phantom Lady's racks were more famous than Diana's.

So, apparently Gail is outright retconning the Diana Trevor storyline. Color me supremely unimpressed. And the "amazons are dykes" jokes are beginning to grate.

On the other hand, HELLO, MY LOVELY DINAH. I HAVE MISSED YOU SO.

So the villains are Dr. Psycho and Roulette?

Sigh.

I was really hoping this would be the arc where Gail finally got around to retooling an old villain of Diana's. So far it's been Simone's own new villains, other heroes' villains, and the same good WW villains everyone uses (Dr. Psycho is already a great villain, but there are a ton of Wondy Rogues that badly need some TLC). And after this little arc we've got more Achilles.

After her excellent work on Villains United/Secret Six, seeing Gail whip Diana's rogues gallery into shape was what I was looking forward to most about her taking over the book. But I'm starting to think it's never going to happen.

You know, I would love to see Diana discover the internet. The results would be hilarious. Just imagine her horror at finding ff.net!

My God, it's good to see well-written Dinah again. We've missed you, girl! What I'm loving in particular is how hyper and enthusiastic and silly she is here, it's a great foil for the more reserved, get-the-job-done Diana (not that Diana doesn't have her own, though more subtle, sense of humor).

And the art! Dinah's little face she makes with her toungue sticking out is adorable. And I love that Diana looks so tall! She's a gorgeous six-foot amazon, and it's great to see her represented that way.

...Dinah's apparent definition of "sexy" leaves much to be desired. No amount of exposed bosom can save Diana's outfit. And really, platforms? I expected more from a woman whose uniform is fishnets and a bodysuit.

A lot of this just read very awkwardly, as if Diana had limited experiences in Man's world and didn't know Dinah very well. (The heels comment? )

And why the random cheap shot at Americans about the stars on her ass? As said by someone else in the comments here "this design has meaning in many different cultures" would have sufficed.

I love stories about female friendships :D

It's incredibly annoying that most works of fiction either don't have women talk with each other, or only have them talk about men. Here, two women chat and have fun and FIGHT CRIME, it's so refreshing :D

Back in the 40s, William Marston created a superhero called "Wonder Woman," but he died in 47 and, in his will, he stated that he owned the copyright and no one could use the character after he died. As a result, Wonder Woman hasn't appeared at all since the 40s.

Hey, denial works so well for me as a Spider-Man fan that I'm branching out. Now, if only I could un-see that black and orange, umm, disaster is really the only word for it.

Diana saying "the secret identity I already have" crushes my hopes that Diana Prince is being phased out, and gets rid of the only thing I really liked about the Rise of the Olympian.

I am a sad panda.
