Carol Danver's greatest foes team up! (Spoilers for Ms. Marvel 42)
Previously, in Ms. Marvel, Carol Danvers went from randomly being a 4 person laser show (and also dead) to inexplicably being alive again. Naturally, this irritated Karla quite a bit and fighting ensues, until an old friend of Carol's suddenly appears...

Join me for an all-out, 3-way brawl in..

Ms. Marvel 1

Ms. Marvel 2

There's some more fighting and a cliffhanger of the Twilight Zone variety, but the important thing is that the epic enmity between Carol Danvers and the automobiles of this world continues unabated. Oh, and also:

Photobucket
crunch!

Isn't that pretty much all you've said to every post for this title lately?

On second thought, apologies. That was unnecessarily rude of me.

And nobody cares.

Me, I can't wait to get Carol back. It's a Superhero comic, it should have a damn Superhero in it.

Not a Supervillainess pretending to be a Hero.

Carol hasn't been a superhero since Civil War. Especially the way Reed has written her where her stupidity has gotten people killed.

You're not wrong, but Carol has always been a superwarrior killer. And she's been stupid quite often. You could probably make a whole megapost about Ms Marvel Super Fuck Ups.

It'd be nice if Marvel started separating the torturing, murdering, assassinating super agents from the helpful citizen heroes but in any case, Karla Sofen shouldn't be portrayed as a hero of any kind, or associated with the Kree warrior Marvel.

On the contrary, the distinctive tanlines they leave are quite useful for helping identify them out-of-costume.

...Wait, you mean useful for hiding their identities??

Well, these days, Carol doesn't have an ID to hide, so she's clear (why she bothers wearing it, then...).

Yay, it's the return of Carol vs. Car! =p That's one tagset that really needs to be rebuilt from S/D 1.0!

I'm convinced that's how Karla beat Carol down. She used her kryptonite!!!

Also, the motor oil (car blood!!) on them reminds me of an old Playboy pictorial where they coated a lady entirely in black oil. It was wierdly sexy, but they said it was hell to clean off.

Yeah, no big fan of all that successful villains storytelling lately. I want heroes to win and not writers trying to be especially clever and realistic by writing assholes succeeding >_>

Isn't Marvels big event gimmick "Dark Reign" right now? I think it goes back to normal once it ends.

It sure is, but this seems to be a general trend lately.

In Civil War, even if Marvel tried to make both sides look equal (by telling Captain America he isn't American because he doesn't use Myspace ><), the obviously wrong one won. During Secret Invasion the assholes just got replaced by even bigger ones. I just can't shake the feeling that Marvel's editors and such want to be clever and write "realistic", which just means the bad guys are on top.

Well, with Ultimateverse and it's mantra of "Everybody is an Asshole!" being so popular, clearly that meant the right thing to do was make 616 exactly like it so people would want it too. Frustratingly enough, sales of things like Red Hulk only seem to be proving that theory correct.

Well, remember that SI was sold to Q by Bendis saying he loved what came after - this Dark Reign switcheroo. So really, it has all been building to have *yawn* the baddies in power. I await Carol's return.

I'm torn. I like the appearance of the art. It's well constructed except for a bit of a coloring issue. (The blood looks odd). Karla looks ridiculously sexy in that second panel, which is part of the problem in an odd sort of way. Who stands that way after a fight? It's strange.

You know, I'm kind of liking the soft, clay-ish sort of look Takeda's art gets when colorized.

It's not realistic at all, and they look kind of like clay puppets, but it's not *exactly* hideous.

Ok, I like the art here especially in that scene where Carol gets smashed through those cars however, I think the colouring requires a less 'shinier' tone.
