Amazing #607 cover
Newsarama has the cover to AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #607. Yay!

Felicia!
J. Scott Campbell drawing Felicia!

I'm very glad the Black Cat is returning, since out of all of Spider-Man's supporting cast, she's one of the few people I think *deserves* to know that Spider-Man is Peter Parker. And not because she (amusingly) freaked out over learning how "ordinary" Peter Parker is. But because he showed her so much trust it genuinely made her want to be a better person. The way Spider-Man and the Black Cat influenced each other both before and after he learned his secret identity is an underrated part of Spider-lore.

Given the uncertainty of who remembers what, hopefully we'll get a clearer picture of what Felicia remembers and how it is affecting her post-Civil War. If she doesn't remember Peter and Mary Jane being married, does she remember dating Flash Thompson in a childish attempt to get back at Peter? And if she doesn't remember Peter being Spider-Man, is she really that interesting of a character?

Another note: bare feet are sexy.

Meh. I just look at that and think, "Man, kneeling in a pile of diamonds must hurt like a motherfucker."

Considering what I suspect she wants to DO with those diamonds...well, it probably doesn't hurt as much.

Damn, now I'm thinking about the fact that Felicia has a pearl necklace. I'm a bad person, really.

So that's what those were. I thought they were styrofoam packing peanuts.

She looks like Stacey off Eastenders.

Dude, there's worse people she could look like. Lacey Turner at least looks good some of the time.

That said, in an ideal world, Felicia would be played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. That'd make me a happy man.

Back in Heroes For Hire's final arc, I complained that she was being drawn as Billy Piper and the artist logged onto Major Spoilers to protest that he'd never heard of her.

I'm still not paying for any of this, by the by.

As much as I'm not a big fan of J Scott Campbell (His MJ cover with her on the couch, a month or so ago was awful, IMO) or the idea that Felicia might be considerably more antagonistic toward Peter (And I'd argue that she can definitely be interesting if this is going to be done right and isn't a rerun of their first encounters), I love this cover, except for the fake nails and the almost buck-teeth.

And I'm definitely with you on the bare feet=sexy statement. That said, it's the only thing that could've worked for this cover idea, really. To play it cutesy and put her in socks would be out of character.

Very sexy, aside from her hideous, giant mono-tooth.

That's a fun cover! Linsner's rendition of Black Cat will always be my favorite though.

I know I'm late, but I was re-reading Claws last night. I'd forgotten how much fun that series was! I really dig Felicia's mask there, like Linsner said, it would actually do something.

They took away Norman Osborn and Eddie Brock's memories of Spider-Man's secret identity, which pretty much invalidates the point of their characters, so I don't see why they wouldn't make the same mistake with Felicia.

And expecting any sort of prompt or satisfying resolution is, at this point, a proven mistake. I wouldn't be surprised if we manage to make it through the six-issue MJ arc without learning what she knows (or doesn't) about Peter's secret identity, and I'm convinced that the reason why his secret identity is once again secret won't be revealed until 2010.

These stories are being told by people who have no comprehension whatsoever of what constitutes a "story."

There's some issues with the anatomy (the angles are all wrong at times) but I like the concept of the cover.

J. Scott Campbell's art really annoys me. All the women he draws have huge eyes, small noses, and big lips. Actually, I don't think that in and of it self bothers me, it's that other artists think he's a master at drawing women and they all look the same to me!

Why does she look like she has beaver teeth? Her front teeth are HUGE. And boy, Pete must be tiny if Felicia can fit into his top and it fits her body like a glove. Including the bewbs.

I've always wondered how his costume is a shirt & pants in, instead of a bodysuit

Definately agree about what makes Felicia cool. What sucks, though, is if the rest of BND is any indication, they're going to take it out in exchange for something quite shitty.

Considering the number of ripoff Spiderman accessories people are shown with in the Marvel U, I'm willing to believe that's a nightie. :) And I'm not a lesbian (I'm not, I'm not!) but I am fond of ladies wearing drapey Spider-man shirts.

The scene and her buckteeth, though, got me flashing on Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck in the Forty Thieves treasure cave. :)
