The Unknown #2
First, on a topic completely unrelated to the rest of this entry, has everyone seen the image on the Google main page yet?
Putting it here so that I'll be able to look at it again from time to time:
Anyway... seven pages from the second issue of Mark Waid's new series about detectives who investigate the afterlife.
This issue, they're tracking down a box designed to scientifically measure the human soul. It's been stolen, and its creators have hired our protagonists to find it.
As revealed last issue, Cat has a terminal brain tumor, and hallucinations are one side effect.
The two wait for the middle of the night, when most of the passengers are asleep, to search the train's freight compartment. Oddly enough, a lot of the cargo they find there is weird occult stuff like ancient manuscripts and skulls with eyes still in them.
Whatever that creepy thing is, it tries to kill them. Its touch turns some of the passengers into dust. The two escape by jumping off the train.
