I get it. Nostaligia. "It's not the same." So it's not "right." But it's not supposed to be. It's a different medium trying to attract a different audience.
Actually, I 'm not sure you do get it, as I'm about the LEAST nostalgia ridden Transfan you'll meet.
I'm actually viewed by many transfans as being eccentric because I'm happy to enjoy (to different extents and for different reasons) the various iterations on their own merits. Gen 1 was cheapjack animation fun even if it had the depth of newspaper, Beast Wars was clever and stylish, Beast Machines was trying perhaps too hard to be "mature" but had simply gorgeous visuals to compensate, Transformers Animated was chock full of jokes and the cartoony style contrasted with some satisfyingly strong storylines.
The problems I have the movie are entirely it's own, and are mostly based on what I think are poor storytelling choices from Michael Bay and his team, nothing to do with comparing it to previous versions (Soundwave's voice being frelled up to one side, that one WAS unforgivable! Yes, I have my geek hot buttons too)
