Avatar: the Last Airbender Teaser Trailer

Hm, without getting into the protracted casting arguements, it does actually look pretty well done. :) Wouldn't mind seeing the film out of curiousity, though the "Some believe he is the chosen one" part of the voice-over is kind of cliche... though accurate.

For legality, a strip by Rufftoon, who I believe was actually hired by the guys because of the quality of their drawings,

They've made it as generic as possible--always a good sign. Chosen One, last of a powerful nation, some believe he's a myth... I'm surprised they didn't start with the lines "In a world..."

Part of me still just doesn't accept this movie is real.

Okay, I admit I liked the part with the slow pan of all the Fire Nation ships.

Still don't know if I'm going to bother to see the film. It certainly starts behind the eight ball given the director and the shit casting.

The Fire Navy looks great! I still don't think Zuko's scar is big enough though (I know he's not in the trailer, try google).

The trailer is ok. It's not even close to good enough to overcome the whitewashing of the series.

So yeah, I won't be watching it. But I'll probably have viewing parties of the cartoon around the same time. I'd like reward the makers of the cartoon for not being afraid of Asian protagonists (and for making a damn good cartoon) while not supporting the ills of the movie.

I was hoping this would be good.

I was wrong.

I do not get the twinkle toes, fun loving, air ball cycle riding Aang. Just A lot of Aangst.

The airbenders where a powerful nation? Whut? Meh. Not impressed and still not seeing it. It feels lacking even if it's just a teaser.

iirc, that's the gist of it with Rufftoon though she's also done work on Teen Titans Go and Flight. Love her Water Tribe Zhao comic.

I have a feeling this movie is going to fail. It kind of throws me off to have a guy narrating it when it's Katara's voice that always did the introduction.

But still, the racist casting. Bleh.

I feel divided. On the one hand, the airbending and the ships looks accurate. On the other hand...I got nothing except still distrusting Shyamalan and still not liking the casting decision, but that's old news.

Could anyone see if the nation logos were accurate?

I must have it good. I have not seen this show so the movie looks interesting to me. It's the same way I went into LOTR without a clue about Tom Bombadil (I read it after). Or Transformers. Or many things really.

I probably won't see it in the theatre since I'd have to convince my friend to go but I'd still watch it.

Now here's your part of the deal, cuz
Lay the secret on me of man's red fire

(But I don't know how to make fire )

Now don't try to kid me, mancub
I made a deal with you
What I desire is man's red fire
To make my dream come true
Give me the secret, mancub
Clue me what to do
Give me the power of man's red flower
So I can be like you. :)

Now the song's in everyone's heads...:-)

Also. Everyone mentions Signs, The Sixths Sense and the other more recent Shymalan films but no one seems to know about this one http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120510/

And there's probably a good reason for it.

The thing with M. Knight is that in order to make a successful film, he needs to be kept under a pretty tight watch. That is what's happeneing in this movie.

They're trying to pander to a wider audience, and that can alienate an already wary fanbase.

It's just a teaser, don't expect to much accurate information from it.

I still withhold a verdict until either a full trailer is put out or more information is put out. To little data exists to draw a conclusion at this point.

That said, all this Trailer makes me want is a proper RTS for the Avatar-Verse.

I'd still much rather see a fourth animated Season. If they can make up Soulbending, they can make the Book of Whatever.

Yeah, I don't like it. And not just because of the racist casting but because it just..doesn't feel like Avatar to me. I can't really explain it better than that though.

I will give them this though, they chose their scenery very well. Pity they couldn't do the same with all aspects of the film.

Weirdly enough, I was just taking a break from watching the DVDs when I logged on to check up on the latest web-news.

Regarding the film, my only real issue with the character casting is having Aasif Mandvi in a serious role. I'm not sure that's gonna work for me.

Now, one suspects the film will suck, but that's because it's a Shyamalan film (though I suppose doing an adaptation instead of building a whole movie around a 'twist' might be good for him). Also, since I'm a big fan of Dev Patel from him previous work, I hope that the film succeeds and augments his star power.

Even if this movie didnt have the problems it does, the trailer would make me think "that could have been cool if.."

I'm still upset about the casting, but the trailer was better than I'd expected. I still have no intention of seeing the film in theaters, but I might rent it from the library (or perhaps a video store) if I don't hear too many negative things about it in the meantime. Otherwise... well, I've been known to watch some pretty shitty movies on cable TV when excessively bored or tired.

Boring and generic. I don't see this trailer enticing many new people or making DVDs fly off the shelf.

And the racefail is still enraging.
