Rich Burlew's "Order of the Stick" is an epic fantasy webcomic populated entirely by stick figures. Better than it sounds. There are two black-and-white prequel books containing stories never told--the first contains the stories of the heroes before they met each other; the second, the story of the villains before the comic began.

Some context:
Durkon is an impossibly faithful and obedient dwarven priest of Thor, who has just been sent away from his home into human lands by his leaders. So far, it hasn't been going too well for him: he's finally discovered the reason his people are called dwarves--by getting trampled by the humans twice his size--and been rudely interrupted at every turn. But then he smells a beacon of hope: the local bar.
But unfortunately...
