Green Lantern #42 preview
Got to hand it to Hal, that was clever.
One image behind the cut, with previews from IGN posted today.

It's official.
Larfleeze has enrolled at the University of Florida and can't wait for game day.

And for those of you who follow the link into IGN's previews.... I've had time to think about those panels that "look" weird.... I think these are part of the mural over at GL Corps, or key scenes, as if shown by paint....

"Did the same thing to my partner. Gave you a taste of what you hoped for. It was a...a mirage?!? Bah!"

Somebody needs to double check.

Even Hal doesn't know what is was, all he knows is that he was able to give Larfleeze a taste of his hopes.

Let's call it Jedi Mind trick and be done with it.

"Why, you thief! You stole my idea!"

Larfleeze, now in the running for one of the funniest quotes of 2009!

And yeah, I'm sure that Hal grabbing the orange battery will go well...

Man, I can't wait to get this issue!

I think it'll free the people Larfleeze absorbed into his battery

Ah, but considering they're all dead, and Blackest Night is about to break out, that would not be a good thing.

they might be recoverable.

Might not go well, but it's certainly worth the risk. No more battery, no more Orange Corps

So did Hal mix up the names of Kermit and Gonzo there?

If so, that's hilarious XD

I'm not sure if it was that or I missed some dialogue somewhere though.

no, last issue he said Larfleeze reminded him of a cross between a warthog(I think) and a muppet, the one that always hung out with chickens.

WHY do artists keep forgetting that Scar is female?

PLEASE what happened to the creepy but pretty but half faced fucked up bald GIRL version of her they had a few issues ago?

Like the UF/FSU rivalry wasn't annoying enough as it was...

In other news, Fatality's still looking pretty bleached-out.

(Ch'p being part of Hal's "muppet show" is a nice touch, though.)

Not as bad as last issue, but yeah, still pretty bleached. That said, side by side with John, they seem to be the same shade.

So John's going the Michael Jackson route?

two things
so Hall pretty much just got rid of the orange lantern by giving the sole member a blue ring that quenshes his greed so are we having the orange light in the blackest night?
second thing are all the controller dead cause aren't they suppose to create a device that superman uses to create the universe in final crisis

On the second: ah, that's what they keep forgetting. Especially as a Controller GAVE the MM to Brainiac 5, all the way back when Shooter and Swan did the LSH. (the Dark Circle story)

And then Matter-Eater Lad ate it(there was a very good reason), so how did Brainy give it to him anyway?

dc really has to get a better continuity department

Well on one hand IF DC remembers all this and actually wants to reference it (since imo they've been ignoring as much of Final Crisis as possible), all they have to do is say a small group of Controllers died for the Orange light and there's still plenty left.

In the rest of the preview it shows that the blue ring only showed Larfleeze what he hoped to happen (same thing happened to John Stewart when a blue ring was used on him). Hal still has the ring and it's implied that he nor anyone else can take it off right now.

So Hal is able to get Larfleeze's ENTIRE attention, so much so that he's even more important than the guardians.

I think the writer really loves Hal. He's "goddamn Batman" level here.

Johns does in fact love Hal, but granted Hal does have the blue ring, a power that hasn't been "tasted" by Larfleeze yet. The Guardians are old news to him.

In the full preview, is it just me, or is that Kyle leading Hal's construct army?

The crab mask makes me think so. It wouldn't surprise me, Hal has a lot of respect for Kyle.

Also nice to see Alan Scott make an appearance. I wish he was a bit more involved with the moden Green Lantern Corps mythos.
