Two Perfect Moments in one - Brother Blood and Robin
The original Brother Blood is a villain with good publicity, with just a dash of classic Magnificent Bastard

He's just captured half the Titans, and has instructed that Robin be taken away for questioning. A little time has passed now...

Power means nothing to him, but he does take time out to go ogle the pretty (and now even more half naked than usual) acrobat hero. Anyone can buy a Monet, but a shackled Robin is to be savoured.

It took me some time to work out what's a little odd with this picture, and it's the way Dick is posed compared to the Confessor, from the waist down it's fine, his legs are facing the arch the Confessor is standing in. But his chest and arms are sort of twisted around to the right, so the Confessor wouldn't be looking him in the eyes. I wonder if this was originally supposed to be two panels, one of Dick, the other of the confessor, or they wanted to display more Robin and so changed the position... But back to the plot.

Dick has been being held captive professionally since he was about 12, he's not going to let THIS lunatic get under his skin, no matter what!

A perfect moment for Dick here, refusing to BREAK. he doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the walk... well, when he's not shackled to the wall of course.

It's the dismissive and completely unexpected "Yes, well, never mind old boy. You tried your best and that's all I can ask" approach which makes this perfect. The fact he's just sanctioned torture is nothing to Blood, the fact the hero exerted all his remarkable force of will to resist that torture is irrelevant, he goes out of his way to reassure the torturer that it's not his fault. Good minion management there, good torturers are probably hard to find.

See, here's what's wrong, Brother Blood. You need to trigger the right cues in order to get the bonded slave to break, since you were obviously trying to tap into the biggest sex organ in any human... the brain.

Now, if you just came in with a dark cloak and a dark cowl, Robin would've been more responsive to your suggestions and your... needs.

What a wonderful notion! :)

Hugo Strange sort of tried that, wearing a bat costume whilst questioning a tied-up-and-on-his-knees Nightwing, in a Devin Grayson story surprise surprise.

You're right. The Confessor's not looking him in the *eyes*...

Good point!

*Choke* Well spotted, now how did I NOT spot that before! :)

Hey, any sane human being would be looking at that direction if given the chance! Heck probably most nutjobs too.

Man, if I was going to be a mook for a villian I'd work for him. He seems like a resonable boss. I bet they even have insurance and superannuation funds as well.

I had the utlmost difficulty making myself scroll past the first scan. Tied up half-naked Robin yum yum yum!

But that torture scene is giving me Return of the Joker flashbacks. Don't even go there, brain!

You should always take your time, no one's in any rush here! :)

It is nice that he's so supportive of his torterer. Too many evil masterminds are too hard on their support staff.

But then, with Robin splayed out naked in front of him and all, he's probably in a good mood so likely to go easy on anyone.

Yeah, it's great to see a bad guy who can be nice and evil but isn't the typical Bad Boss who throws a tantrum when people fail him. Other villains should be taking notes.
