Fight Night: Leonardo versus the Shredder
I really wanted to post this originally when I first came to scans daily. But I never had the chance too, until now. In honor the of the 25th Anniversary. I have some TMNT scans, probably the greatest among them. I give you from TMNT vol. 1 #21, Return to New York Part III, aka Leonardo vs the Shredder. Dial Uppers be warned.
The issue was about forty-six pages pages (no ads). So I'm hopeful you'll get the entire fight. If I posted more than I did (twelve pages), then I apologize and will remove the needed ammount. For those who want to know the cause of this, well Oroku Saki otherwise known as the Shredder is kinda pissed as hell for getting blown to bits in TMNT vol. 1 #1.
He took out that rage of dying out on one of the turtles, Leonardo (which took place in the one shot special of the turtle). After beating him within an inch of his life he them tossed the dishonored turtle back to his brothers intending to finish the job. I mused with scanning the colored portion of the trade I have of that issue. But eh, I want the fight. So those for looking what the hell Shredder did to Leo go here and read the entire issue and then #10 which finished it at the official website:
After that mess and defeat, the Turtles retreated from New York for an entire year. They returned looking for payback, and struck at the Foot's headquarters. The enusing battle cost the lives of an ally of the Turtles (poor Zog *sniff*) and a ton of Foot Ninjas.
After the numerous fights that erupted and surprises along the way. It's all come down to this. Leonardo facing the man whose supposed to be dead in a million pieces. Pull up the popcorn and relish what I think is one of the greatest fights ever in a comic book:
*as for the reason why the building is imploding in the below page, Raph used a rocket launcher and it of course went into some fuel. Place go boom boom. There's a few pages with the three trying to get to Leo but instead are met with a massive flame. Even with the building going up in flames the two continue their death duel:
The three are somberly thinking their brother is dead when the door to their lair opens and it's Leo with Saki's body. He then declares the feud is over and honor has been restored. Later that night the four give Saki a honorable funeral pyre.
Plus if you're interested in more TMNT a reminder that Mirage is releasing trades of vol. 1 and then the Archie stuff starting in July:
