One perfect moment: Jono and Amber
... in which someone does to Jono what I'm sure a lot of people have wanted to, no matter how much they love him.

Two pages under the cut.

Much to my disappointment, we never saw Amber again.

How does he eat?

I think he's mostly energy, actually. Seeing as he has almost no internal organs, I think he doesn't need to eat.

He doesn't. Or breathe. He's got a bio-kinetic psionic bio-nuclear furnace for internals. It helps if you don't think about it too hard.

He should never have survived M-Day unpowered -- he should have been long dead beore they could hook him up to life support.

Oh, agreed. It was an incredible stretch. I gotta say I'm glad he didn't die, though.

He's pretty much an energy being inhabiting his dead former body. Also, he loves pizza.

Ya know, I've always wondered why it hasn't started to rot by now.

In one of the Annuels, it was shown that Jono COULD put his body back together how it used to be, but lacks (well, lacked, since he was depowered and all) the control necessary to do so. I think the original body stays because he just can't let go, either conciously or subconciously. He clings to the tattered remains of his humanity, thus creating his problems.

and also to maintain it in that shape. It explodes again after ten seconds

He got the absolute pointiest end of the stick the day the powers went out. On the one hand, it was an excuse to give him a real body. On the other though, his uniqueness was half the draw of the character. Not that he still isn't, but it feels abit contrived now.

Oh Jono, you bonehead. The girl has naturally studded arms. You have a bandaged mouth that glows. Together you would have looked so awesome.

Well, he had it coming.

This is what I cove about Jono. He's so full of contradictions - he hates anyone judging him on his appearance, but he's a totally shallow dick where women are concerned. But conversely he's very un-judgemental of others as well, when he's not interested in them romantically. He's basically a guy who screws up in many many ways, but is always striving to be better. That's why I love him and guys like Cyclops too.

Honestly, the only relationship I've really seen him in is with Paige. And he would have been perfectly happy just pining for her.

*thinkthink*

She was pretty much the big relationship that the comics showed On Camera, as it were. Everyone else was either an ex-girlfriend (Gayle, who showed up working for Emplate), that girl he took to the dance who's name I don't think we ever even learned (and who DIDN'T know he was a mutant), the deaf chick he met and never called back because he felt it would be saving her a lot of drama in the long run... and Amber. Oh, and he was crushing on another girl in the miniseries Amber showed up in, who's name escapes me at the time.

Don't forget Sugar Kane. He slept with a Waepon X girl too, so he could, ah, pump her for information.

Jono, you were a certified asshole, and now you're baby Apocalypse.

Suppose there's some poetic justice in that :P

you know I really don't think that you go around telling people you're grateful to you never want to see them again.

Gratitude is one thing, love is another thing entirely. It's very possible to be grateful to somebody you loathe, and if you loathe them, why would you want to see them?

I don't believe it's possible to be grateful to someone you loathe. If your loathing isn't at least temporarily overwhelmed by the gratitude, you aren't really feeling gratitude, you're merely mentally aware you should be and paying mouth-service to the fact.

I was expecting this to be the scene with the deaf-and-dumb girl. That was a pretty cool bit, too.
