from Super Friends #5, 1977. Story by E. Nelson Bridwell, art by Ramona Fradon & Bob Smith. A little context: Bruce Wayne has been kidnapped, and Robin and Aquaman (plus annoying hangers-on Wendy, Marvin, and Wonder Dog) go to rescue him. Things don't go too well, and they end up chained up in an old abandoned house. Aquaman is strong enough to break free, but he's tied to a support beam...if he busts loose, he'll bring the whole house down on them. And I guess Robin left his lockpicks in his other utility belt or something. Ahem. Luckily, Wonder Dog is able to slip out and go get help.
Now, Wonder Woman and Superman vs. a bunch of ordinary, non-powered crooks makes for a pretty one-sided fight scene. So Bridwell decided to jazz things up by providing a soundtrack:
I must say, Wonder Woman is pretty badass here. And I like how Marvin stops to grab the tv while the house is collapsing around him. "Woo hoo! Free tv!"
Superman standing there smugly while bullets bounce off his chest = never gets old.
So Batman keeps a spare suit over at Superman's place? I bet he has a toothbrush over there too.
Anyway, Batman makes short work of Greenback, and everyone lives happily ever after. Except Jeannine Gale, who never had another hit, and spent the next 30 years singing that damn Superman song over and over again at state fairs and auto shows.
