But "becoming something" and "being made something" are two different matters. You can become physically stronger if you exercise a lot, you have that power in you to begin with and it's only a question of whether you are willing to use it or not. But you can't become President unless people decide to make you one by granting you the power; of course you can play an active role by convincing them, but nevertheless the power lies with the people in the first place, and even after you get it they could still take it away if you discontent them.
Basically, a President is completely dependent on their people, they'd be nothing on their own.
Furthermore, being a President doesn't necessarily mean being a good President, nor actually managing to accomplish any goals; in fact, it's entirely possible for a President to screw up big time and make things much worse.
On the other hand, what you are is the very source of what you become. It's the self-sufficient foundation that, if combined with drive and hard work, gives you the power to accomplish your goals.
So I'd say that "woman" (or "man") really are prouder titles than "President".
