Batman Cacophony #3
.

Batman’s plan to lure Onomatopoeia in works. Then Onomatopoeia decides to shoot Batman in the head and be over with it. Of course, Batman being Batman, he was prepared for that, Joker begins to look at this as his opportunity to save himself, but Onomatopoeia sees it as a chance to get away by stabbing the Joker in the chest.

"And," the Joker continued, "The sight of your junk totally turned me on for some reason. Whattya say, Bats, up for a little hanky panky before we kill each other?"

Cue porno music ... bow chicka bow wow...
I think Kevin Smith is using Mr. J as a self-insert so he can put the moves on ol' B-man. Mmm... rubber.

But seriously... wtf? WTF?! Beard?! Junk?!

Nah, but just -- guh. Well, at least Cacophony was good for one thing: it taught me what a merkin is. And yet, I never really wanted to know.

The art in these pages is a lot better than it was in the previous issues.

Though Joker wiht a beard looks creepy.

I read this and learned two things.

1. Smith wants to be Moore. He isn't.
2. Smith believes repeating what someone cleverer has said, without understanding it, makes for good writing. It doesn't.

Also, I would like to reiterate my utterly fruitless plea that we replace that fucking TKJ flashback with a more symbolic shattering mug.

Why isn't the Joker's facial hair green?

Aaron "The Mad Whitaker" Bourque; and those are believable reasons for Batman not to want to kill the Joker; he wants to save EVERYONE.

I think it is - you can see it in the very last panel - it's just that it's so wiry and so vigorously inked that it looks black.

Wasn't that as Batman's reason for not killing the Joker established in The Killing Joke, though? He has to believe there's hope for redemption for anyone, even the Joker.

What with the "death" of Batman, I think that now would be a fine time to kill the Joker, too.

Have someone finally just kill the fucker. Or have him go catatonic or be put in a coma. Or see him just slink off into obscurity, utterly crushed by the fact that Bats isn't around.

Then we can see a World Without Joker for a while. Hell, maybe that can even provide some kind of meta-reason for why he's so invulnerable to death. Maybe he's protected by the Evil Clown Gods, I dunno. Maybe, Galactus-like, he serves a purpose so to speak. Perhaps in his absence a horde of lesser crazies would only spring up to fill the vacuum, making things worse than ever.

Anyway, when will there ever be a better opportunity to kill off the Joker for a while? Someone ought to go for it.

Motto.

And does anyone know why this stupid thing asks if I'm a LIVEJournal user, then when I enter my info, it tells me that INSANEJournal info doesn't exist?

Or is that just something they do because it's "insane"?

I always thought the best end for the Joker would be if Gordon shot him, preferably while defending someone else.

I actually really want to see the Jokers reaction to Batman RIP. I suspect he'd just insist he isn't dead/won't be gone forever,as everyone who's ever read a comic already is. (Actually, what's the betting Gaiman writes something like that if Joker gets a story in the net bit of "Whatever happened to the caped crusader?")

My profound wish is that he gets shot by a random civillian. Just some ordinary Gothamite that happens to have a gun in thier bag when the Joker shows up.

Interesting. He'd either get furious or find it hilarious.

I kind of see him lying on the ground clutching his bleeding chest going:
"Eveyone's a critic! Oh but the show's not over... untill the.. *blood cough* fat lady sings... YOU THERE! *points gun* You could stand to loose a few pounds, SING SOMETHING! And please.... not... something... by Katy perry...---" *is dead*
"Oh god. Is he...?"
*is not really dead* "Huarck! Really, either those wallpapers go or I go!"
*is dead*

The problem with this is that Kevin Smith is bringing up a plot point that has been mentioned numerous times before, and does not provide an adequate answer.

But why was Batman stripping of in the room with the Joker, hmm? Methinkds his new plan is to seduce him away from a life of crime (and to get him to shave, obviously.)

Bruce shows up as Matches. Joker says it weirds him out to talk to Bruce when he's not wearing his face. So Bruce changes, to make Joker more comfortable.

Then he opens up to Joker and tells him about his parents dying.

Okay, see, there are MOMENTS that I really liked this comic, but so many little things just made it feel "wrong." And that last line was one of them. In fact, my main "pet peeve" with this whole mini was the whole sexuality-of-the-Joker thing that Smith kept kissing the edge of. Morrison did it fine in Arkham Asylum-- just a hint of tension, just enough so that we get that Joker thinks it's the best way to mess with Bat's head. But all 3 issues just seemed to me like Smith was saying, "Hey! Did you know that often crazy people are sexually deviant? Look at me stress the Joker being sexually deviant! Dude, I'm cutting edge!"

And also? If we're supposed to take this as canon in all of Batman-world? I am totally rooting for Jason Todd to kick Batman's ass again. Seriously. He deserves it.

*grumbles* Nolan's "Don't have to save you" is so much more heroic...
