If my knowledge of the fifties Archie comics is correct, they got Betty's hair wrong. She wore it down, with a headband on top. The ponytail, however, is the more recognizable hairstyle, so I can see why they used it instead.

Just that it's a brunette and a blonde at a malt shoppe, as the focus of a panel, in the 1950s. It's not the only way to call it, but it is recognizable enough to go, "yeahhhh, that's on purpose."

I'd probably buy into it more if any of the other eight teenagers in the shot looked anything like Archie, or Jughead or the rest, but they're so generic looking.
