Blackest Night: Batman #1 Cover
The cover to Blackest Night: Batman by Andy Kubert under the cut.

So it looks like Deadman is a member of the Black Lanterns.

Alternatively, that could be John Grayson ripping out his son's heart . . .

Yeah, the lack of sleeves suggests it's not Deadman, and since you can't be Batman without your dead parents being recalled every four seconds... (Despite the fact Dick mourns his parents, but doesn't obsess over them the way Bruce does)

Seems like John would find a way to get some sequins into his outfit, even as a zombie. But you could be right!

If that is indeed Deadman, I'm mildly upset. He's one of my favorites because he's just such a down-to-earth sort of fellow.

On the other hand, if that is indeed Deadman, I hope this means that the Phantom Stranger shows up and gets to do something awesome. :D

Totally agree. Deadman is a fun character, and usually fairly lighthearted.

So wait, ghosts count? Though some time back I said I thought Deadman would show up somewhere here. But my assumption was that he'd be on the good guys' side...

Maybe it's just his body, while his soul is in ghost form still? Like somewhere recently they mentioned that the original Spectre, Jim Corrigan, was going to be involved somehow, and he got to go to Heaven at the end of his series.

Some people have mentioned that Black Lanterns will probably be zombies with no souls attached to them, so it could feasibly be Deadman's body, without him being in it.

Still. He didn't have any powers, he was just... an acrobat.

That's the thing: his only power comes from being a disembodied ghost--possessing people.

Now, my assumption if he came into it was that he'd be a means to STOP some of them for that reason.

He got his powers after he died, didn't he? His corpse is basically baseline human. I guess Deadman will play a part in the book, but if that's Boston Brand's corpse, then it's just your standard zombie. :p

It's like Flashdance, but with Zombies.

It's wrong the first thoughts I had were of the scene in Indiana Jones and the guys has his heart ripped out in a creepy ritual, and then it burns while he's lowered into a pit of fire. Followed closely by 'stabby stabby!'

Scans_Daily, you have numbed me to casual violence.
