From Batman and Robin Adventures #10 and #14. Eleven scans from the two-parter.
Harley pens an "autobiography." Needless to say her ex isn't pleased and escapes from Arkham to "MURDERIZE" her.





There's a fabulous true story about Harley's pseudonym Elise Archer that I'm going to let lovedatjoker tell coz it's about her ;-D







Joker... not so pleased.





Joker gets a major case of the itchies from coming into contact with Ivy's plant and Harley opens up a can of whoop ass on him. She finally stops and says "This is coz you never really loved me!"

Then she gets all wistful and sad and picks up this old photo frame...





I guess maybe this one is another Joker/Harley tale left open for interpretation. Harl says he never really loved her but then she's wistfully holding a photo frame that says "Harley baby love you forever --- J."  What do you make of it?

And this is part deux, in which Harley reveals her plan to take over the world through her Harley Quinn Romance novels.





She's able to manipulate Tim and Babs, but not Bats coz he read her book with leather gloves on. KINKY!
So they foil her and bring her back to Arkham. Where someone's not so happy to see her.





I can't figure out who this Joker reminds me of. Jack Skellington, anyone?

Mr. Columbine? Nice Commedia dell'arte reference!

Black eyed!Joker really freaks me out. I'm not sure why. I think it's because the big black eyes give an air of adorability, but it's still the freaking Joker, so.

I was amused at how Dick is all concerned about Tim... and then a little weirded out by Tim reading a bodice-ripper featuring pseudo-Batman and Mary Sue.

I love how bittersweet cute Joker/Harley stories always are.

Re-reading this after watchin Return of the Joker, it's actually kind of tragically creepy foreshadowing without knowing it, as Dick gives the madly giggling Joker-venomed Robin the antidote and actually says to him "Do you have any idea what Batman would do to me if I let something happen to you"...

Maybe, art-wise and even a little bit dialogue-wise.

Harley seems to have a little more than typical self-awareness in the end there, at least for her.

I love these. ^_^ The Joker/Harley relationship is an extremely complicated one, and these comics do a good job of portraying that.

Besides, how could you not love Harley's reaction (not included in these scans) to Batman's gloved novel reading? "You read a romance novel wearing leather gloves?! You're weirder than I am!"

Art-wise, my only grife is that neither of the two artists (Rick Burchett for #10, Craig Rousseau for issue #14) can seem to figure out how to properly draw the re-designed Joker. In some panels he looks pretty good, in others he just looks weird.

Yeah the third last and last panels here he looks totally off. Reminds me of Jack Skellington or something. He's got this skeletal look about him that's just blargh... and there's no lips!

Oh man, I love these. And the first one? Harley could not be more wrong, he totally loves her and thinks people are going to laugh at him (which this Joker hates) so its the only reason he's attacking her. He totally loves her at this point but Harley is not in her usual frame of mind, I think that's important (and that picture frame of the two of them is so dern cute).

Must get this. I laughed hysterically because, as it it appears here, Nightwing is just suddenly there to haul the Joker off to jail. It's as if the Batfamily has to hang around "Chez Joker" to mediate in domestic disturbances. Oh, and the note on the photo from Joker? Harley totally wrote that herself.

Ok well I promised so...

I've been a nutty HQ fan for ever, basically. I run the big HQ website - http://www.harley-quinn.com - and have for eleven years. Eleven years ago (actually it's almost twelve now) I was on one of the alt.batman lists and through that I got talking to Ty Templeton, who was the writer for the BTAS books at the time. Quite unexpectedly, we got very chummy and would spend pretty much every day chatting for hours and he was amused enough by my Harley obsession to not only write me this story but do me the honour of having Harley check into that motel under my actual name - yes Elise Archer is the name I was given at birth! So now me and Harley are forever entwined and it still makes me sigh happily to think about it. XD

It's just a bone he's thrown to her. Big ol' beef bones for Bud and Lou, declarations of devotion to Harley-- keeps 'em happy and (more or less) obedient. I think at the end of the day no one's going to really get in the way of his long-standing infatuation with himself (why do you think he hates being laughed at, or being the butt of the joke?).

It occurs to me that despite my hatred of the Twilight series, I would totally read it if it were written by Harley Quinn. She'd at least make it funny (intentionally funny, that is).

Every time I read Joker's line "I'm going to wrong your neck in a minute, you naughty girl - after a quick bratwurst", it gets funnier and funnier. I mean, sure, there's context - his line to Robin - but still, that is just such a bizarre thing to say that it never fails to tickle me. I get this mental image of Mr. J removing a huge, greasy sausage from an inner pocket and frantically wolfing it down while simultaneously keeping an eye on Harley and fighting Robin, and I just start giggling like a schoolgirl. Oh, Joker, you wacky man.
Also, am I the only one who is NOT impressed by the artistic decision to render Joker's skin as BLUE rather than white? I know that it's not just this comic that did it - I've seen it elsewhere - but it just looks so damn weird. It makes him look like an alien or something.
