Did it have to be his PARENTS? Couldn't it have been an uncle, or some other relative? I can appreciate Johns wanting to give Barry some motivation for adopting that line of work, but (A) we saw his parents numerous times in the past and (B) it ruins the whole Barry-is-a-normal-guy thing. The guy who was a big comic book fan as a kid, who idoliazed Jay Garrick, etc. (Y'know, the aspect that readers could actually EMPATHIZE with?) I appreciate that with police procedural dramas like CSI being relatively popular, they might want to explore that aspect a little more, but they can do it without introducing a tragedy that seems --forced-- into there.
