Ahhh, the Crossing. Good lord, what a terrible terrible storyline.
I started reading the Avengers during the Harras/Epting/Palmer run. I absolutely love this run, and not just because of rose-colored nostalgia goggles. I think it was a solid, entertaining run. Operation: Galactic Storm was a fun crossover, with the kind of genuine moral dilemma that Civil War and other recent titles just casually brush off.
That being said, with the replacement of this creative team, the book quickly descended into 90's crossover Image-ripoff mediocrity. The Crossing was the ultimate expression of this, a storyline so incomprehensible and disrespectful it just reeked of 90's sensationalism.
That being said, the "Teen Tony" run was at least an entertaining concept, although I believe Busiek was firmly in the right by undoing it.
Although, to be horribly iconoclastic, I really did like the "bug" Wasp. You may commence flaming now.
