I like Brubaker. But if he'd made the husband eat the wife's eye, I still wouldn't like this story. I'd have appreciated it if he'd found another way to add tension and character development and plot progression. I LOVE some of what he's done. This is... not serving the story well, though. Kind of lazy, imo. Gross, yes. Offputting. And not worthy of his actual storytelling ability. IMO.
