The Windshield of Destiny

Four  scans from Captain America #49, in which there is an emotional scene, wacky dreamscapes, and quite possibly the best line of the series so far.

So, most of the issue is a fairly standard Brubaker character piece, ie, a damn great character piece, focussed on Sharon, as she tries to put her mind back together.  Then, one day, she notices (or allows herself to notice) for the first time that she's got a scar on her abdomen:

Look on Sam's face there?  Perfect.  This is definitely Ross's best issue on art yet.

At issue's end, with more memory back, she has the latest in a series of bizarre nightmares:

She then wakes up, and is left wondering what the machine was doing before she destroyed it back in #42.

Also:

"Shut your chattering gob, you frail wench! You are but a gnat splattering on the windshield of destiny!"

Is a line so awesome that only a robot-Nazi mad scientist could possibly pull it off.

When was Dazzler pregnant?

Early days of Adjectives-less X-Men. (Might have been in Uncanny, but about the same time frame, 91-92). Professor X detected Allison was pregnant, and the broad hints were that the kid would eventually grow up to be Shatterstar (Longshot was the daddy, BTW). As far as I know, she never actually looked pregnant, in story. In fact, her pregnancy was only ever mentioned again twice: Once in a back-up story, and once in UXM, years later. There, Bobby was about to ask Dazzler how the baby she would've obviously had by then was doing, but Jean cut him off, telling him not to bring the baby up to Allison. As far as I know, it's the last ANYBODY mentioned Allison's pregnancy.
