Blackest Night: Full December solicits
So many covers to choose from, some many topics to discuss, but this one has a LOT of implications.

IGN has the interview (link on the page for the discussion before) and solicits for December's Blackest Night titles.

Oh yeah, SPOILERS.

Current Music: "Angry Johnny" - Poe

RICHARDS!!!!
As in "plural." Ok, I hope this scene plays out well otherwise anything in the future that looks like this will be deflated for me, and I will have lost my love for comics.

IGN has the preview for Fantastic Four #571.

Alan Moore speaks out on Blackest Night
He does. It's in his recent interview with Mania.com:

AM: That’s it. It’s the paucity of imagination. I was noticing that DC seems to have based one of its latest crossovers [Blackest Night] in Green Lantern based on a couple of eight-page stories that I did 25 or 30 years ago. I would have thought that would seem kind of desperate and humiliating, When I have said in interviews that it doesn’t look like the American comic book industry has had an idea of its own in the past 20 or 30 years, I was just being mean. I didn’t expect the companies concerned to more or less say, “Yeah, he’s right. Let’s see if we can find another one of his stories from 30 years ago to turn into some spectacular saga.” It’s tragic. The comics that I read as a kid that inspired me were full of ideas. They didn’t need some upstart from England to come over there and tell them how to do comics. They’d got plenty of ideas of their own. But these days, I increasingly get a sense of the comics industry going through my trashcan like raccoons in the dead of the night.

KA: [laughing]

AM: That’s a good image, isn’t it? They weren’t even particularly good ideas. For Christ’s sake, get some of your own ideas! It’s not that difficult. You used to be able to have them! I’ve also heard that, apparently, a fifth of the direct sales market in comics is my work—twenty percent! I’d imagine that the sales in places like Borders and the big book shops, which are increasingly where the bulk of the market is, it’s probably a higher percentage.

For legality, three pages from Volume 2 of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Gullivar Jones from Edwin Lester Arnold's Lieutenant Gullivar Jones: His Vacation meets up John Carter from Edgar Rice Burroughs's Barsoom novels to plot against the Martians from HG Wells's The War of the Worlds.

Yay! They're here! :) Saturday sketchcard fun
I've been saving this for the weekend as I think it's the sort of fun thing that seems suited to a Saturday morning over a nice cup of tea (or beverage of choice).

I've just received some new commissioned sketchcards, and I just had to share them (And I've been dying to use this icon too!)

Blue Beetle's Enemies, Part the HE IS A CHAR: Carapax the Indestructible Man
so yeah, I'm also skipping Mento and the Hybrid because... well, I just can't pick what to scan.

Be assured, though, that it was a pretty neat Titans team-up, and consider it incentive to search if you're that interested.

Here's a recap of it in the following issue, though..  )

Wolverine #2: Patch vs. possessed!Jessica Drew
Reading old Wolverine is turning out to be a strange experience. By the time I got into the character, as a kidlet, he was already nigh unkillable, and Madripoor and the Patch identity were getting passe. Here it's... ostensibly fresh? I don't know - there's just something interesting about these pre-bone-claws, pre-Origins, pre-invasion-of-the-Logan-clones, Wolverine.

It's still Wolverine, with all the cheese that implies, but it's a much more interesting Wolverine. It's a Wolverine who still had some secrets to explore. I guess what I'm saying is that there's a cheeseball charm to it?

Also-- wha-what? Depowered, 80s Jessica Drew? In my Wolverine comics? It is Claremont, and what Claremont story would be complete without a sexy! powerful! dominant! woman, in clothing that resembles bondage gear? Of course, in this story, Jess has become a Claremont girl, via the miracle of demonic possession (Evil Is Sexy!).

Me am still villain. Lord Damyn Part II
Following up the last post, I thought I could post a few more Lord Damyn scenes, this time from New Teen Titans #25 (1982).
Still on the odyssey to rescue Starfire, Robin, Changeling and Cyborg reach the Citadel and meet Damyn and Blackfire there. More Damyn-Grammar, Blackfire villainy and relationship development between Robin and Starfire!

Arisia 's Origin ?

So, saw this about here in Blackest night extra or some-such. I like that she was in a girl band. I did a wiki check and she used to hook up with Hal ??? Didn't she use her ring to age herself to adult hood ???

Barbara being mean to Cass
Due to the previous two issues of the new Batgirl series seem to have Oracle being... somewhat abrasive towards the title character, I've decided to post this (trunkated) story where Barbara is mean to Cass as well.

Greetings True Believers! I bring you two scans from The Mighty Avengers #29. Well, we've seen some creepy moments from Hank Pym and Jocasta but this may take the cake. That and Jarvis almost loses his shit below the cut. Enjoy!

Thor Love
http://daveslongbox.blogspot.com/2006/04/thor-smack-talker.html

I remember reading this blogpost about Thor being *possibly* the greatest shittalker in the Marvel Universe. Yes, better than (as most recently referenced in Dark Avengers #9) Spider-Man or Deadpool. Well, ever since then I've been a huge follower. Loved the most recent run on Thor...he's been written pretty well imo.
