Now THIS is how you show Transformers fighting Mr Bay...
Having, for reasons I'm not sure I quite believe, subjected myself to the horrors of "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen" (Or "Shia LeBeouf and the Hardware Mastur-Bay-tion") I felt I had to soothe my frayed nerves with some decent Transformers....

So this comes from the UK comic - Transformers Weekly #82, way back in October 1986.

From left to right, this happy little crew are Impactor, Rack'n'Ruin, Topspin, Whirl, Roadbuster and Twintwist (Only Rack'n'Ruin and Impactor are not actual toys in the TF line). The components strewn around them appear to be bits of Blitzwing, the Deception triplechager tank/jet/robot. (Oh, and yes, "get wrecked" had the same other meaning of "getting drunk" back in 1986 as it does now) These are NOT A-list Transformers... they are barely D-List Transformers, they are the Transformers equivalent of PAD's X-Factor cast, wannabe's and never were's. NONE of this crew ever showed up in the cartoon for example.

Before we begin I might drawn your attention to the colouring here, it really is rather lovely, John Burns taking full advantage of the different printing technique that the UK Weekly could use.

The Wreckers fight hard... REALLY hard... as we see in this introduction to the team as they launch a sneak attack with their feared battle cry of...

Golden Age Wonder Woman Crack
These are from Wonder Woman #3, 1943. H.G. Peter's art doesn't seem up to his usual (admittedly quirky) standard in this issue. But hey, the issue involves the Baroness Von Gunther, invisible slavegirls, mind control devices and bondage.

Monster: Romance in Prague
When picking out scans to show off Naoki Urasawa's Monster, there are usually three criteria I use to judge which ones to show and which are best left discovered for someone reading the series:

1) How good was the scene?
2) How much does it spoil the plot?
3) How appropriate is it for scans_daily?

The next few scans definitely fail criterion number two. But I feel that I simply must post it, for reasons that shall become obvious by the end of the post.

JImmy Olsen: Crossdresser
Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Jimmy rocks that pink mini, don't you think?

This site delves into Jimmy's long history of crossdressing for business and pleasure. The best part? Superman's Favorite Transvestite, Jimmy Olsen, by Fred Hembeck. Here, have a sample:

Yes, yes. Two posts in row, I know. Shush. Did you guys happen to notice that we now have over one thousand members? Yes, that's right,

Cross-dressing Week: Madam Fatal
As suggested here, let's declare it official Cross-dressing Week! And where better place to start than with Golden Age "heroine" Madam Fatal?

Introduced in the appropriately named Crack Comics #1 in 1940, elderly matron Madam Fatal (think Aunt May, but with... added extras) is really retired actor Richard Stanton. When his daughter is kidnapped, he sets about making a new life for himself as an old woman. His foes now underestimate his speed and strength allowing him to fight crimeâ„¢. No one knows of his secret but his pet bird, a parrot named Hamlet.

Old Superheroes: Have a little of the funny!
Greetings True Believers! I ran across these today during my travels across the mysterious inter-web. They are very funny and I wanted to share. The art is a collection of Marvel/DC/Independent heroes once they past their prime. Enjoy them because I sure did!

An amusing scene from Yu Yu Hakusho #48.

Yusuke and Kuwabara are invading some rich crime lord's house to rescue a demon girl he has kidnapped. The house is guarded by both ordinary and paranormal guards, providing the ideal opportunity for the kind of long-running sequence of fight scenes that shonen anime thrive on.

Our scene opens:

Cap, Lost, and Slaughterhouse Five. Plus Scans!
Photobucket

The fine folks over at io9 have put together a large post filled with scans (just how we like 'em!) that traces the clues Brubaker's been slipping into the last 25 issues about Captain America's rebirth.

I kind of wish that they'd held off on the resurrection for another year or three, but it's good that they're actually working with the writer on this rather then just handing down an awful plot from on high. I mean, Brubaker's pulled off a lot of material that I'd never thought have worked, like Red Skull dying (Slander!), Bucky being brought back as a communist assassin with a robot arm (Hearsay!), then taking over for a dead cap with a new costume and a more extreme attitude (BALDERDASH)! Yet, enjoy it I do...

Some scans!

Two posts in one day? But these had to go up, for the good of the many.
Not long after the new Star Trek movie came out, a friend of mine had the principles of "slash-fiction" explained to him. His mind dealt with the resulting trauma the only way it could.

With webcomics.

These are the voyages... )

High School Drama in every possible sense of the word
Crossdressing week, eh? I have just the thing. Have a few pages of W-Juliet, my personal favourite gender-bending high school rom-com. Brought to you by Japan! The only nation who would produce enough gender-bending high-school rom-coms for it to be considered a genre in it's own right!
