HOT STUFF, THE LITTLE DEVIL

The first appearance of Hot Stuff was in "Hot Stuff" #1, October 1957. Harvey must have had confidence with its new character, since he didn't first appear as a backup feature in another title or have a trial run in "Harvey Hits".

CUTE DEMONS?

You have reminded me that kid's comics at one time were bizarrely subversive, and not in companies you'd expect.

Actually, if you were really hardcore-religious you could claim that Harvey Comics are all a plot to first enslave our young psychologically to material goods and wealth, almost as fetish objects(Little Dot, Richie Rich), in order to lead them to witchcraft and the occult(Wendy, Casper) and eventually to their Satanic lord and master, the devil for children, Hot Stuff.

Though I'm an agnostic, so it's not an argument I'd make. But it is interesting how often Harvey takes things that are usually scary and makes them cute. Devils, witches, ghosts and their murderers(well, what else were those three adult ghosts?), and enormous, retarded ducks.
