What about Phyla-Vell....>_

*SPOILERS*

According to GotG, Phyla is the new avatar for Oblivion.
I guess she is replacing the Dragon of the Moon or Wraith (from Annihilation: conquest)

Good move.

I thought she was the new avatar for death? Or are they the same entity?

And where does this leave Doorman from GLA?

Death and Oblivion are separate entities, and are two of the "Big Four" of the MU's cosmic entities (Aside from the Living Tribubal); Eternity (Embodiment of the totality of life), Infinity (Embodiment of Existance/Space), Death (Embodiment of...well, Death) and Oblivion (Embodiment of non-Existance)

No, not of Death. She is the avatar for the embodiment of Oblivion, and based on the last page, she will have a big part to play in War of Kings.

She's explicitly stated as being Death's new avatar though, isn't she?

Nope. Maelstrom was discussing to Phyla to Oblivion. That whole entire battle/Oblivion land occurred upon the cloak of Oblivion.

The location of the conflict means squat; if Phylla had entered Oblivion's service, Maelstrom would have said "You have a new avatar" or "Oblivion has a new avatar", not "Death has a new avatar".

It also misses last issue's explicitly stating that at the time of the conversation Death had lost her avatar.

And ignores the thematic connection of skulls with death, not oblivion.

Great, got the issue in my box. Picking it up tomorrow. Meh, not looking forward for her to be Evil. Nova is not a character that interests me and now he is Quasar. One step closer to getting Wendell back. Guess the fanboys got their wish :(

Wait, didn't we just get Wendell back? Or is Rich just going to temporarily be Quasar while he pounds on Worldmind? The Quasar mantle's been tossed around so much in the last eighteen months that it's getting a tad ridiculous, although Rich is definitely working that costume.

Nova and Wendell bonded via Wendell's Quantum bands. Possibly as a means of reversing Richard's cellular decay due to hosting the Worldmind before.

Aah, I'm about five issues behind on both Nova and GotG, so I hadn't caught that. Still, it's like Quasar's a radioactive potato that A&L keep throwing around. I hope they settle on who is going to be Quasar, because much as I overall like their work on the Nova book, the Quasar round robin is getting to be a joke.

It'll be Wendell. He got the bands from Phyla. He gave them to Richard to keep him from dying. But the title of the book is still Nova...odds are it's temporary.

It must be nice to have a buddy with a set of Quantum Bands. You can just tightbeam him whenever you're sick and have him come rearrange your molecular structure to get rid of those pesky viruses.

She needs to become the Scientist Supreme of AIM and have a slinky costume; then she and Madame Hydra can get into a catfight. Red on green, baby!

Actually, I could buy Richard Ryder taking the Nova moniker and keeping the Quantum Bands as his power source. They up his profile enormously over simply being the receptacle for an evil computer.

He's just tired, stressed, possesses the sort of arrogance that says "I'm smarter then you, therefore I'm right', possibly is a little glitchy from recent events (trying to keep the Nova Force from killing Richard for a year, recovering from a Phalanx infection, and being rather painfully crashed while getting off Galactus's latest meal), and my own theory, suffering from a not-so-mild case of Post-traumatic stress after all that.
