The Great Ten #1
The Great Ten are the Chinese superhero team DC introduced in 52.

Each issue of their 10-part maxi-series will apparently focus on a different member of the team. The first issue puts the spotlight on the Accomplished Perfect Physician.

Before joining the Great Ten, the Acclompished Perfect Physician used to be some Robin Hood-type outlaw hero who operated out of Tibet. This flashback's from ten years ago:

So it seems the creators have earmarked the guy to be the rebellious one, a la Green Arrow or Hawkeye. I'm sure one of the TVTropes aficionados can chime in with a name for that type.

Is this the same team where they had a member who was kept perpetually pregnant and popping out litters of cannon-fodder supersoldiers with the lifespans of mayflies?

Wait. Was there ever a scene where they were rolling forth like a wave or soomething?

Because one of the TVTropes articles I launched always needs more examples.

hn. I wonder if anyone told Mr. Bedard that 'tongzhi' is almost exclusively used to refer to a gay person nowadays?

I wonder if they told him... and he didn't care?

AGI/APP OTP?

I developed a odd fondness for Tony Bedard's writing back during some of his Exiles stories; his stories have their weak points, but he always seems to be giving it his best go, and I rather liked his work on BoP. I keep hoping he'll shake his status as a filler-issue workhorse and get his own series at some point. I'll have to pick this up.

He's had his own series for a while now. He's been writing R.E.B.E.L.S. since the get-go and it's really good stuff.

The one thing that's been bugging me as of late is just how similar Ghost Fox Killer looks like the tangent Green Lantern.

She's my fave thus far. Dunno if I'll get the issues but I'm quite willing to get the trade.

Back in 52, Accomplished Perfect Physician was the only one of the Great 10 I really liked. So I may give this one issue a try. Having said that, even part of me wishes that one day DC revisits China's role in the assassination of Black Adam, Isis and Osiris (all 3 were supposed to die but BA didn't) and the creation of the 4 Horseman. The Iron General, for instance, knew much more than he let on about it.

So America gets Superman and the JLA while China gets government tools who attack innocent protesters? No racism there, huh, DC?

Ugh, talk about utter racefail. Par for the course, I suppose. *sigh*

I wasn't expecting much out of the series (neither the writer or the artist are usually hits with me, and the concept has been on the shelf for so long), but I found it to be really solid. Night and day compared with Dance.

Also, Bedard's been overall doing pretty well lately. He never used to impress me, but this and REBELS are both a lot of fun.

... I can't help be envision but Bart just running in there, violated the whole International Super Hero law of whatever, getting on the great Ten's bad side, and then help, if not bailing, them out of a trouble, with many laughs on the way.

I love the Great Ten something firece, I just wish they would've picked someone who's writing is better than merely adequate and someone who's art does more than fill up pages.
This would've been great in the hands of Rucka and Bennett.
