He had a really odd relationship with women's lib in the Ms Marvel series, too. He was uncomfortable with the amount of "real news" Carol brought in and how seriously she took her magazine, because it wasn't like the mindless "appeal to the wimmens" fluff that sold other women's magazines, and Carol rightly called him out on this as sexist. But he thought the magazine was important to have and he thought that it was important to have an obviously feminist woman like Carol at the helm, who had the teeth to not back down from him. So it was sort of that he was fairly sexist, but also forward-thinking enough to know that he was and that that was a bad thing.
