man, did desaad overturn some rogaine on his head during his last escaping?

Thinking way too hard about this, but...

1) Wouldn't the exhuast fumes from the cycle be much stronger than Lois' perfume, hence much easier to follow?
2) I am dubious about Supes' inability to run down a dirt bike.
3) Did his sense of smell just stop working once he entered the hall of mirrors? Shouldn't he able to simply follow the trail straight to Lois?

The MST3K Mantra only goes so far, people!

Regarding the exhaust fumes - for a normal person, yes, but he's SUPERMAN. All his senses are hyper-acute, and presumably that also includes the ability to sort out one type of scent from another, even if they're jumbled together.
He IS following the trail straight to Lois. The thing is, the trail leads through the mirrors, and as he passes each mirror, it distorts him in some way, which results in great pain, and he can't go back to normal or concentrate past the pain until the mirror is smashed - hence his slow progress.

So he couldn't use his super-speed to plow past the mirror's spheres of influence? Or use his super-hearing to pinpoint the clearly screaming in pain Lois and plow straight to her?

For someone who supposedly has an intellect that rivals Lex Luthor's he sure does rely on "Hit it till it breaks" a lot.

Well, the mirrors ARE the work of Desaad, the Apokoliptian God of Torture, y'know. It's not surprising that he could gimmick them so that they cause Supes some trouble.
As for 'an intellect that rivals Lex Luthor's', that varies from story to story. In the Silver Age, particularly in the Weisinger era, that was indeed the case, but back then he had super-EVERYTHING. He was super-strong, super-smart, super-fast, had super-vision, super-hearing, super-smell, super-digestion, super-ventriloquism, and who knows what else. You name it, he was super at it. This was not the case during his early Golden Age adventures, though, and as this looks like a Bronze Age-era comic, I'm not sure whether it was the case then, either. I think that generally, Superman is portrayed as intelligent and quick-thinking, with a fair understanding of science, but he's not a genius.

I love Lois' outfits during this period! They're mostly appropriate if the Daily Planet has a stripper pole. Much more appropriate is the 'Crack" sound effect when Lois uses "Klurkor" (will that make a return on New Krypton? Has it already?)!

*Ring* Hello? ... Yeah, it's me... Now just a damn minute, Scudder, Snart told me you'd be calling... Hell, no! The place would have been burned to the ground if it was me! ... I don't know, maybe the speedster found it before you could spring it, did you think of that? ... No, don't go calling Jesse, I'm sure he wasn't-- *click* Aw, crap. I need a beer.

I think he was Lois's friend. He and his girlfriend were supporting characters of her title during that period.

AND HERE'S YOUR FIRST CLUE THAT JACK KIRBY DIDN'T WRITE DARKSEID HERE:
[info]box_in_the_box
2009-11-03 02:35 am UTC (link)
IN THIS STORY, DARKSEID DOES NOT USE "QUOTATION MARKS" AROUND "RANDOM WORDS" FOR ABSOLUTELY "NO REASON."

After reading those Fourth World trades, I will always think of Darkseid as a super-badass Doctor Evil, who's constantly miming quote-marks in the air with his fingers when he says certain words.

Well, Dave and Lois certainly seem to be enjoying themselves while trapped in those mirrors.

Every time I see lyrics to a fictional song like this, I think "there's no way that song could be good." In fact, usually there's no way those lyrics could be a song. If anyone vaguely familiar with music had been involved, that "long" would have been dropped the first time that they ran through it.

Adventures of the Supershnozz! And how nice of them to write the word "crack" right when Lois is attempting to use Kryptonian martial arts on a bad guy. Just in case we weren't sure.

Oh, and that must be some perfume. Dick, I *know* what's going to be in your stocking this Christmas!

She was a back-up feature for a few issues, reprinted stories from either the 40s or the 50s. I had the Lois issues years ago, so it's difficult to recall. Pretty much adventure type strips, akin to Steve Canyon style. Pretty good stuff in retrospect, but I was too young to appreciate anything 'old'.

My favourite panel is the one where Lois's elbow is up by her head and she looks more like she should be in a porno than being trapped in an alien plot. God, I love comics.

Lois's boots are quite the design. I'm not sure they'd last more than a couple of wearings.
