Hell is cold: Captain Cold and the Suicide Squad
Okay, so it's common knowledge that Flash's rogues were well represented among the Suicide Squad by Digger Harkness aka Captain Boomerang. However, old Boomerbutt wasn't the only one of Flash's perennial foes to 'volunteer' for this ragtag bunch. Leonard Snart, who you may know better as the cool, cruel Captain Cold, pitched in once or twice as well.

Two pages out of twenty-two from Suicide Squad #17 and #18 each. Credits for these pages go to John Ostrander's mighty pen and Luke McDonnell's thousand words. Scans are not mine.

Let me give you a little context: the Jihad, nemeseseseses of the Suicide Squad come back for revenge after their defeat earlier in the mag's pages. They're terrorists from Qurac and they've got it out for Manhattan. This happens in issue #17.

Then, in issue #18, Captain Cold faces Agni.

Agni gets put on ice. Unfortunately, the good Captain doesn't return to the Suicide Squad after these issues (which also includes the unposted #16).

	Agreed, but it needs a writer that understands that the Squad needs an equal amount of heroes to villains. Lately Suicide Squads have been all villain with two token heroes. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	weeeeeeeeeeeel, I would have to agree. I saw NO reason to undo Rick Flagg r. like that. I mean what was the point ???? That said anyone can have an off-effort. Who else could you see writing the book ???? (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Christos Gage. He seems to understand that badassness needs to be understated to be effective, has an excellent mind for mission planning (important for when they go wrong) and is pretty skilled at writing characters all across the power spectrum. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Well...

Windfall was needlessly fridged. Revealed to have been gang raped, killed the people responsible, went wacko and then was killed in an acid bath and her skull kicked around by Eiling. That alone really put me off.

But the deaths were fairly predictable and Rick Flag's past was needlessly reconned and then never explored.

But worst of all, IMO, was how dumb Waller was. She gave free reign to Thinker, a super genius and it somehow never occured to her that General Eiling, whom she knew for a fact had brainwashed Flag, could assume control again. She lost half her team to mutiny on a single mission! And no, that's not SOP with the Squad.

	Captain Cold is one of the best villains ever. The Squad and the Rogues are teams that really seem like they should have their own on-going. They have such complex characters, especially the Rogues. (Reply to this) (Thread)
