I think Todd being gay is just out of character for him I mean he had an abusive step father and his father kind of left him and add up all his women problems he should be very uneasy around both women or men in dating, I mean he just doesn't make sense being gay.

I think that's a little like saying it's out of character for Kate to be a brunette. Whether he's gay or straight or bi or asexual or shunning sexual identity labels entirely, it's not any more a facet of his personality than his hair color.

It's one thing if he were to have issues with dating, and quite another to equate those possible issues with his sexual orientation.

Well, Todd has a daughter in the future. I wonder if that will ever be addressed?

DC has preview pages from this and Streets of Gotham up at the source. http://dccomics.com/dcu/comics/?cm=13197

The artwork on Manhunter seems much cleaner in this issue. And Kate Spencer has morphed into Kate Walsh. Not that I am complaining XD.

The "future" in DC is very fungible. In one version of the future I've read, Jade is living, in another she's not. In one version, Stargirl is married to Atom Smasher. In one version, Tempest is telling his granddaughter about Atlantis. I take all "future" stories with a grain of salt.

He had a son as well. They're both in the scene when Justin brings Ramsey breakfast in bed the morning of his graduation.

When CBR added the Wonder Woman forum, Gail had an "Ask Marc" thread, and someone asked about the kids. He said the future seen in Manhunter #37 and 38 was just one possible future for Kate and the gang.

I'm guessing that when the title was cancelled, he wanted to give some sort of wrap-up (not knowing if he'd get the chance to write the characters again), and then later Didio gave him the co-feature in Streets of Gotham. That's just a guess, so take it with a grain of salt.

Daughter, and the other kid who crashed into Ramsey and Justin's room was probably his son -- the name Alan was kind of suggestive, given that the girl was named Jenny.

What happened? Did he move to Gotham with Katey? Is she visiting LA?

Apparently they were supposed to get married in #50 ;_;

Is Streets of Gotham worth picking up if I'm only really interested in the Manhunter back up? I'm a poor college student so I have to be careful with what I spend my money on.

The writing's been pretty "meh" so far, but Dustin Nguyen is an amazing artist. I can't speak for this issue, though, because it is by Satan Yost.

WHY are we always written as wanting to have children!!!! GAWD!!! It's like there was a memo that went out that said every gay guy MUST want marriage and kids and the military and it's suddenly the 1950s all over again! OTOH, a series with Damon scheming ala Lois Lane would be a hoot.

If you don't mind my asking, where are you getting this idea from? I hope that doesn't sound snarky or rude; its not intended to be. I'm just genuinely confused. Apollo and Midnighter (along with the Authority) conquered America, got married, adopted Jenny Q. Todd and Damon have mentioned talking about it (and apparently Andreyko planned on having them get married in issue #50, if rumors are to be believed). And, that's it, I think?

Almost all of DC's queer characters have had romantic interests at some point, and none of them have expressed any interest in marriage or kids. None of Marvel's have that I can recall.

OTOH, a series with Damon scheming ala Lois Lane would be a hoot.

Agreed, but he's been the one raising objections to marriage and kids all along. At this point, I'd settle for just having him back regularly in a book. After the first cancellation (issue #25), he all but disappeared from Manhunter except in issue #34 (the pirate cosplay comment scene). Its really refreshing to have a non-butch gay guy who doesn't descend into offensive stereotyping.

Maybe because many people (actually, the vast majority of people- gays included) do want children? And think it would be nice, if they're in a long-term committed relationship, to have the protection and benefits that come from marriage?

Not all gay comic characters have been portrayed as wanting to be married or wanting children. Neither Renee or Kate, as far as I know, have expressed a desire for either. Neither have Billy or Teddy over at Marvel. There are reasons for this- Kate and Renee really don't have lifestyles seemingly conducive to raising kids and Billy and Teddy are too young to worry about that stuff. However, the couple here do have a lifestyle (almost, if they weren't so busy) where they could raise children and are at the stage in their life when people generally start seriously thinking about settling down and doing so.
