Bring it on! DOOMWar
That big fight that has been tossed around in recent Marvel titles where heroes in the near future unite to get rid of Dr. Doom once and for all. It's upon us.

Newsarama has the details.

When the comic book rankings come out of Best Villain, you get the icons near at the top. Luthor. Joker. Magneto. Darkseid.
And then there is our beloved monarch, the Lord of Latveria. Dr. Victor Von Doom. And taking that quote I sued for the link to the cut, Doom should be on the top of the list of villains. Period.

Because he can count on most of the Marvel U as his enemy. And now, his enemies gather to take him down once and for all.

Yup, that's Wade in there.

*edit* link updated.

I love the fact that it is cannon that Doom's mask alone is a serious threat.

I've been meaning to ask you this for a while, but where does Apu-calypse come from? Are there more like him?

About Apu-calypse.

CBR art forums had "Simpson's versions of X-men characters". Some really funny gems.

I was quite proud that when the thread got attention beyond the forum, and people were blogging about the art. They used my Apu-calypse as an image to link-to the forum, among others.

My version of Mojo got a few chuckles, too.

Worst. Comic-book. Hybrid. Ever.

There was some minor controversy linked to this project. John Byrne earlier in the year said he had a story he'd like to do if he ever got back to working at Marvel and Doom War was the title he had for it. I heard it suggested that the title and some elements of the plot were stolen from the description he gave on his message board.

Doom wanting to execute Storm?

Do Not Want

And it figures that the Black Panther writer is doing this. :x

Actually, it makes sense.

Public execution, then when the world thinks this married queen is "dead", take the real Storm who he has hidden away and make her his.

Except I don't think that's what the writer is planning.

To Be honest, it sort of works for me. Doom is just the type of person to put personal feelings aside for an appropriate display of power should the queen (or whatever Storm is right now) of a foreign nation overstep her bounds

I notice that Reed Richards, Dooms archnemesis, is not in the picture. I theorise this is for one of two reasons. First is that they are saving Mr. Fantastic for a later cover. Or, it could be that Doom does not in fact defeat Richards in this, and Doom's inevitable defeat in this event is caused by him finally admitting Richards as his superior.

Doom kept himself alive by magic through the millenia untill he met that Marquise guy (before they had met in modern times because it whas the past), became his apprentice under a false name and learned the dark arts wich he then used to slay the guy.

As in: Dooms master is Doom.

Deadpool vs. Doom? Is there some logic behind this I'm missing, or is Deadpool fast becoming Marvel's new Wolverine?

He already has.

Deadpool appeared both in the live-action Wolverine movie and in the animated "VS Hulk" one, he has been making a lot of cameo appearances in other characters' comics, he has been given a new solo series and two new minis and an upcoming "Deadpool Team-up" book where he is going to team-up with a different superhero in every issue, and the issue with Deadpool's first appearance recently started being worth a lot of money.

I love DP, but it really seems like Marvel has turned him into their newest shiny cash cow :/

Clearly when they gave him Wolverine's healing factor, they also accidentally gave him his ability to sell comics too. Only that one doesn't kick in until the character has already been around for a decade or so ogod, the scary thing is this almost makes sense!

Ditto, though my main complaint would be that I only wish it was the old Deadpool, not the split-personality yay-Deadpool-vision version we get these days. -_-

So do I, so do I :(

Although, I have to admit, even the split-personality yay-Deadpool-vision version can be enjoyable to me when it's not written by Daniel Way.

In the Suicide Kings mini, the DP-vision only appeared when Wade was badly hurt or was being promised millions of dollars (in those situations, even a normal person might hallucinate/daydream), and the "voices" were used for funny lampshade-hanging (like when he accidentally admits to DareDevil that he hears voices, then backpedals like crazy when the yellow and grey boxes point out that now DareDevil is going to ditch him).

It's impressive how the same version of the same character can go from "stupid and annoying" to "funny and interesting" depending on the writer :P

IMO Fabian's Deadpool is still the very best, though :)

Oh really? I'd been avoiding Suicide Kings with the rest of the recent Deadpool fare, but you're making it sound like it's worth checking out!

Ain't it the truth. Great characters become suddenly annoying - occasionally even annoying characters suddenly become interesting with the right writer behind them. If anything, characters with enough... shall we say characterisation-inertia to stay likable no matter who's writing them may be the minority.

IMO Fabian's Deadpool is still the very best, though :)

Oh yeah. =D And I'd put Joe Kelly's a close second, and Gail Simone's a clear third (and rest safe in the knowledge Fabian would agree anyway, if not put them above himself.)

IMO, the writing most definitely is :D

The art, not so much, but...

Let me put it this way: Suicide Kings is the first DP story in a long time that portrays Wade as a genuine anti-hero who deep down tries to do the right thing, and that gives him a real happy ending. It has hilarious moments, creepy moments, and a DareDevil/Deadpool/Spider-Man team-up.

Despite the kinda fugly art, I wholeheartedly recommend Suicide Kings to DP fans :D
