Well it's the truth. She's a ditz but a smart ditz. I wish more writers would get that. But the expression on the other girls faces were priceless.

One of the things I liked about her solo series was when she set up a practice under a fake name and showed she was actually a competant psychotherapist.

Even though people in numerous places implied she didn't earn the grades, she just seduced the professors into giving her high marks (the Mad Love comic and at the beginning of Harley's solo for example).

Personally I think that she'd have gotten high grades anyway, but the low self-image that caused her to fall for the Joker's flattery caused her to feel that she cheat to get the grades she'd have gotten anyway.

As Mad Love is her actual origin, it carries a LOT of weight. They did more than imply she did it, they outright showed it in the flashbacks.

It doesn't disprove Mad Love though, it just makes it seem sad as it was unnecessary.

The way I see it, she needed an end-around run because Attention Deficit Disorder prevents her from sitting in a chair long enough to finish a test, let alone get through a doctoral dissertation. She knows the stuff (at very least the stuff useful for the pop psychology television show), she just can't prove conventionally that she does.

She was only a TV psychologist in "The Batman", and even then they went out of their way to show that she was not professional, with a dubious online degree and no actual experience.

In Mad Love, I thought she jumped at the chance to work with the Joker in order to get source material for her first best-seller. Although I might be projecting as a defense mechanism due to a positively-reinforced conditioned response. Scatterbrained, ditzy, lazy, and very loony. But clever, witty, intelligent, and smarter than she looks. La la la! :)

Ugh, unable to sit through "The Batman" after the first one.

In "Mad Love" she was a qualified psychiatrist who did indeed plan on using a book about her treatment of the Joker to boost her career.

In "The Batman" she was a TV "therapist" who, even the Joker thought was an example of "Pop psychology at its worst! That girl's theories are unfounded, her professional manner's a joke and her training, if any, is shoddy at best. I love this show! The girl is more screwloose than me!"

You should give "The Batman" another go, after they introduced Robin at the start of Season 4 (in a story with Kevin Conroy as John Grayson and Mark Hamill as Zucco) it really perked up as a series.

No kidding. (To make it worse, I had to do it TWICE, as I forgot to save the first version. *facepalm*)

But with the puke gone, it's so cute. (Even more cute WITH the puke in context, but still...puke is ick.)

Pretty much what it looks like, actually...

It's from the 2004 Harley and Ivy mini by Dini and Timm (also whence this post's icon). Issue 2. Harley and Ivy have gone to the rain forest to pick up a rare plant called the Zombie Root. Ivy, obviously, loves it there. Harls...not so much. It's raining, and there are huge bugs - and she's just squashed one on her cheek, getting great amounts of bug goo on her, which made her lose her lunch.

After fetching the Zombie Root and...eh...communing with nature...Ivy goes back to join Harley, and notices that she's absolutely miserable. Cue a kiss on the cheek (despite the puke and bug guts), 'cheer up baby', and a promise to be back in Gotham soon, so Harley can stop being wet and miserable.

The series is REALLY worth reading, BTW. (Checking Amazon, it's collected into a volume which also includes Judd Winick and Joe Chiodo's Love on the Lam, which is also a fun read.)

Wich must be how all the Doctor Glenn Ocydes or Murderstien PHD's of superhero universes get work.

If your workplace get flatenned by giant death robots every week or suffer massive supervillian breakouts every second month you might as well just run with it.

The cop...people seem to care when they die, and they're less likely to deal with the real dangerous villains, because Batman handles them.

Yeah, but usually a dozen or so cops die before Batman pops over. You need to show how "EVIL" the baddies are. Either you have a dozen or so cops killed, or just kill off a few super-characters who haven't been used in a month or so. More so, if they're characters the previous writer created before your run.

Honestly, at this point, I have to assume they're looking through the patient files and hiring the most tractable ones.

I'm imagining the check in process... 'Doctor, this patient has a death wish.' 'Wonderful...we need more guards in the west wing, after the Joker's 'birthday bash'.'
