"To see a robin in a cage, puts all heaven in a rage"
Though Ogden Nash had never met Damian Wayne so I don't know if that was a FIRM belief.

Found this over on Dustin Nguyen's DeviantArt page

Wow! What a cover.... it tells a story without saying a word... and look who the villain is...

One of these days, Zsasz is going to have to start using his scrotum.

Crime doesn't pay.

I recall one story were the black gate guards kept counting the marks, when he was suspected of a killing. Later they found out he was putting the hatch marks on the sole of his left foot.

GO, ZSASZ!

(PS: No, I have no idea if this exists in his continuity, I haven't read a Zsasz story in -forever- and the last thing I saw was Arkham Asylum, so...)

Doubt it. If anyone writer's going to be able to kill him off, it's going to be Morrison.

Plus while I can see Zsasz giving Damian a hard time, he shouldn't be able to kill him--it's about as likely as Zsasz being able to kill Bruce.

Less likely, even. Bruce doesn't aim to kill.

Man, that's satisfying for nobody. Anyone who likes him will get sick of the abuse, and anyone who hates him will be continually frustrated that the peril never actually follows through.

It would be pretty classic, though, Robin-in-peril was once a bastion of the mythos.

Yeah, but when it was Dick, it was cute. Back then it was like, Robin tied up as the one-pin with a giant bowling ball en route. Now it's like, Robin tied up with Killer Croc or Zsasz en route for some torture pr0n.

I wouldn't call this trend of Damian torture pr0n. His tenure with Pyg was a lot like Silence of the Lambs, though.

Agreed on the first count. On the other hand, everyone has been clued in on Morrison's favouritism by now, so that no one will actually expect him to die.

As to the second, Robin-in-peril is only fun if you like the Robin and are rooting for him/her. If you actually hope he dies, the author's doing something wrong.

Also, after Dick, Robin in bondage is waaaay to sexually charged to do this to a ten-or-however-many-years-Damian-is-old boy. Not to mention that, again, it defies the point if he's unsympathetic.

Anyway, not reading this. I don't need another helping of look-how-tough-Damian-is. I'm thoroughly fed up with that.

I'm guessing the one clutching the bars with the bleeding nose is the one stuck inside the cage.

But Dick wouldn't look that calm if Damian were in serious immediate danger.

I'm guessing Dick is in the cage, and he is calm because he is Batman, whereas Damian is outside but he is distressed because he has finally grown to respect Dick and is clutching the bars in a fit of desperation when he sees Dick in serious immediate danger.

...On the other hand, if Dick is inside the cage with Zsasz, he shouldn't be in serious immediate danger. Or any danger at all, really. The drama only works if the one stuck with Zsasz is someone who can't wipe the floor with Zsasz's face.

Dick would look calm as a rock if he was putting on his game face. He's not going to show Zsasz that he's worried about Damian. Damian's pose is that of a captive, Dick's is that of a guy who is about to kick ass.

I got Dick sitting calmly in cage, Damien also in cage, raeging[sic] against the bars, and Zsasz approaching from outside.

Dear Damian: Meet Mr I Got Beaten By The Last Robin And Am Looking To Erase That Failure From My Resume Guy.

How right you are, I feel so dense
I've not read "Auguries of Innocence".

The rhyming couplet sounds like Nash
So I thought it him, which was quite rash.
