Princess - Princess: A Manga about Crossdressing
Been a while since I've been on S_D, but I hope you guys'll like the scans I'm posting today.
Princess-Princess!

All of the characters in the above image are dudes.







So Tohru ends up being chosen as the third "Princess", and quickly adjusts after he finds out about the benefits (mostly monetary). Mikoto, meanwhile, can't quite get used to this whole "Princess" thing. A bit later in the first volume, the others teach him a thing or two.





And here, from much much later in the manga, some shots of the Princesses cross-dressing.

"Since all boys think or care about is sex with pretty girls, but this is an all-boys school, we're gonna have the prettiest dress up as girls whether they like it or not . . . and then we pay them!"

I've got this uncomfortable feeling in my body, here. And of course, the plot of this story is that "it's okay to get dressed up like a girl and be pretty!" (because that's all that girls are good fore!) and not about teaching the idiot sex-crazed boys that forcing people to act contrary to their gender identity isn't really a good thing, paying them for even minor sexual favors borders on prostitution, and that all this really does is objectify people as sex objects! Of course it won't!!!.

This is one of the reasons why I totally HATE this manga (The fact that the anime is boring and unfunny is the other one). The other part is that it's mostly announced by everyone as yaoi... and it isn't, and that I can't help bur feel that it demeans... well, pretty much everyone!

Eeeyah. This comes off as a cute version of one of my favorite prison rape stories--the one where the guy is 'convinced' it's in his best interest to cooperate and learns to enjoy it?

So of course I'm interested..

I'm trying to decide if this is cute or creepy. ...Nope, it's creepy. Not the cross-dressing; I have no problem with the concept of boys in dresses, as long as they're wearing them of their own free will. The plot is creepy and weird. I kind of want the dress what's-his-face is wearing on the left page of the last scan, though, the one in the middle with the boots.

And speaking about drag. Some punks decide to pick a fight with a couple of "drag queens", Drag queens turn out to be cage fighters. Punks are quickly covered in ouchies. News article also has a video of what happened:

I love how they casually mention a previous attack on a man 'dressed in a Spider-man costume'. Someday I'd like to read an actual Spider-man story with that addendum.

Huh. Can't remember the last time I saw a manga with art this good. Talented linework, beautiful shading and clear storytelling! My fan-scanlated quarter bin yuri collection weeps in envy.

As for the subject, man, you can't have Kannazuki no Miko sold to you as a love story by completely dead sincere earnest fans and be squicked by anything less shady ever again. I'm just fascinated by what can become a successful series in Japan. Boys! Dressing up like girls to provide a sexual outlet for other boys! And there is a thriving mainstream market for this!

I remember watching the anime for this... for a story about crossdressing guys, this was unbearably "straight," it was straight as heck. Boring too.
