Give her a hand!

Four scans from X-Force #19.

As we saw last issue, X-23 was delivered to the tender mercies of Kimura, her former handler/tormentor, who proceeded to chainsaw off one of her arms.

In this issue, the spotlight is mostly ceded to Agent Morales, a former-SHIELD/current-HAMMER operative who's been on the trail of the famous assassin X-23 for pretty much the whole series.  Now having unwittingly delivered X-23 into the hands of the Facility, she's offered a spot with them, or else death.

She arrives on scene and shoots Kimura, then frees X-23, while mumbling in horror at her severed hand.  Laura's pretty unphased by it, after a moment, and picks up the other, saying the Facility can't make more of her.  She spends the rest of the issue running around carrying her severed arm, which, if Warren Ellis was writing, would probably have been milked for a lot more black comedy than it is here.

However, this is Kimura, so a bullet isn't enough to put her down.

They boogie, and eventually stumble across a lab full of trigger-scent chemical.

Elsewhere, the buildup to Selene's big scheme continues:

Ah, Selene, you Claremont-era BDSM queen.

Choi and Oback really should draw most everything, but I really wish they had a few more female faces.

"Her skin is impervious"?

Has anyone ever tried... I dunno, SHOOTING HER EYES OUT OR DUMPING ACID DOWN HER THROAT?!

Or just Dropping her in the ocean with several tons of lead weight wrapped around her?

Or seal her in a cement block and drop it in the Mariana Trench?

Really, Invulnerability has so many outs to it...

Hell, superglue her to a rocket and shoot her into orbit.

Kitty Pryde can help with that. *runs*

Well, unless your name happens to be Adam Destine. But then it's the exceptions that make the rule.

Or repeatedly clubbing her on the head. Sure her skin is impervious, but it'l still shake up the skull and brain.

I don't recall immediately the circumstances involved, but I believe Julian Keller beat her once by punting her into the horizon like Team Rocket.

her eyes were exactly what I was thinking. While Wolvie's designed perfectly for that intimidating pop to the brain with the other claws around the face X-23 is set up for eye shots.

See, this is why I'm glad Selene is brought back.

I remember the issue where Destiny died. The Reavers invaded Muir Isle, and Freedom Force (the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants) stopped them with Forge.
At the end of the issue, Mystique thinks the Reavers did it, but blames Forge for leaving Destiny alone.

Exactly how Mystique figured out Legion did it, I don't know. Actually, they never said why Legion killed Destiny. Presumably he had a reason, even a crazy one.

I'm wincing as I think about it.

Although arguably, Selene is more powerful than Mystique. And Mystique isn't stupid; she knows there's no way she can take out Selene alone.

Perhaps this may be an invite for Mystique to use whatever connections she has with Osborn or the X-Men to do her dirty work help her.

It's X-FORCE. If you don't want gore and exaggerated anatomy, why would you even read the book? It's like reding Deadpool and complaining about the fourth-wall breakage. Or picking up Tiny Titans and bitching about the cute. Or reading Green Lantern and protesting thefact that a GL ring seems to come with a great ass.

See what I'm getting at?

Eh, it's not like "titties" is anything new in comics. And while I certainly get tired of massive T&A in comics, I really don't have a problem with it this time considering this is Selene and she and other women from the Hellfire Club have been dressing like this for a loooooong time. I also like it since the artist actually made her not look like a stick figure or like she has implants. Yay.

As for the gore...well, X-Force is a pretty gory book in general and hasn't really tried to hide that fact.

What I don't get, if that's her costume, why does she even WEAR a costume? I mean, it's not like it's really covering anything up, and it certainly couldn't be as comfortable as being nude.

If you're going to go titty, go all the way. That's all I'm saying.
