Squaddies and Saturday mornings
The squat-bodied Marvel equivalent of the Super Friends started airing last week, with the awesomely named pilot "And Lo... a Pilot Shall Come!" The premise is apparently: saving Superhero City and a MacGuffin sword-fragment-of-the-week from Doctor Doom's Lethal Legion of cartoon-villainy that lives right next door in Villainsville.
A couple highlights: MODOK and Abomination fighting over superhero-Mortal Kombat, Hulk hitchhiking, surprise Doombots, and bringing in this guy in the second episode:
Only, y'know, with slight changes:
Ms. Marvel is the kinda mean, hard-ass boss of SHIELD (including Cap and Hawkeye so far), who are sorta-ally-rivals to Iron Man's Superhero Squad. Silver Surfer talks like a surfer dude. Thor's got the thick Ridiculous Olde Accente. Captain America keeps talking like it's still the 1930s (Those were the days. Hot jazz and skinny eyebrows
. Wha?). Hulk is cartoon-dumb. And also the mayor of Superhero City has Stan Lee's voice.
I kinda wonder how many liberties they'll have to take when they get to super-deformed Punisher though:
Aaand the opening sequence:
I hate those Squaddies.
I'm sure people can relate, Doom.
ETA: Now with voices besides Iron Man's and Doom's. Ms. Marvel is Azula:
