By Saturday, Sky was all but worn out.
Doing the best she could wasn't seeming to be good enough, and while Vance and the others seemed to have an infinite level of badass to hand out, she always felt something a little lacking. That little part of her that suspected her dad had bought her way on the team reared it's ugly head many times during the fights. Mostly when she felt she was doing a poor job of, well, anything. Sure, she could fight. Hold her own, but sometimes she was sloppy. Too scared of holding onto someone for too long, too worried she was going to kill someone rather than just knocking them out. With so much going on, she didn't have time to really check anyone. It was a matter of take someone down, move onto the next person. For all she knew, she'd already left bodies in her wake. And that thought troubled her.
Finding Vance, teaming up with him, that made Sky feel better. He was a better fighter, more of what she hoped she could become on the team. Plus, it made her feel safer in a way that didn't make sense exactly. As if fighting with him solidified her as a part of the team. And maybe that was because she knew him so well, they were friends, and she knew he supported her. Believed in her being there. She fought better at his side, found she was less uncertain about getting close to the person she was fighting and letting her skin touch theirs as their body tensed, their life draining into her, giving her a rush for as long as they remained in contact. Needing to be careful about how much she took, Sky always counted in her head. Only a few seconds, because the more she took, the more the world sometimes seemed to tilt around her. Her head going light. It meant that she was careful to only touch someone unless it was absolutely necessary. Too much life taken in and she'd be perfectly useless.
They'd been at it for who knew how long. Long enough that when there appeared to be a break in the fighting, enabling Sky and Vance to take a breather, she was grateful. Even though she wanted to take a seat, catch her breath, she didn't. Ever alert, Sky merely glanced around, taking note of their surroundings as she tried to figure out the next best move. Stay in Haven or move to another area that was being hit harder. Though, she wasn't sure there was an area being hit harder than this. Which meant they should probably stay exactly where they were. Or, not exactly, but continue to make their way through Haven, helping where they could. Not the most pleasant thought with how tired she was, and glancing at Vance, she saw he was looking a little worse for wear himself. Still better than how she felt, though.
