Suddenly they were in front of him on the bridge. They were alone and the traffic seemed to be deciding to go another way. When he was alone he liked to listen to the cars zip by from down below with the drainage pipes and steel bars but the sound wasn't good for conversation... so he'd willed them away. Only Arkin could tell him the ripple effect of the changes he made to reality but he liked to think that it wouldn't matter at all, it was naive... selfish... but it was his only choice.
Tonight they were saving the days to come.
He didn't believe it at first, that they were part of the collection or that an end of days was coming, but he knew Tristan from the illusion he'd caused. His awareness of all people and the realities they wished for themselves had overwhelmed him, he hadn't been prepared for that amount of information rushing into his consciousness and while he wasn't actively aware of it all it had all been taking up space. It was no wonder he struggled so much in August to keep his illusion patched together with all the mental super powers punching holes in it faster than he could even comprehend what he had created.
Now was his chance to find repentance for all of that and all the suffering he caused to the people he'd dragged into it. For failing her.
He had told Eddie and Tristan that the nausea and shock of being moved in reality would pass and was standing with his back to them, looking out over the water and waiting. This was the same bridge he jumped from to kick off his last massive illusion but they didn't know that. All they knew was that they were afraid this reality they knew would end and they were angry but they also had hope. He could use their hope and he would do his best to.
A few minutes passed and he turned back to them, "Alright let's start talking this out, I do want to help you, I wasn't lying. Oh... the other two guys you requested, they weren't where you said. Sorry, there isn't much more I can do about that and we're short on time."
