Hailey’s eyebrows ticked up as she got the new 411 on Dan, but honestly she couldn’t say that she was surprised or even that sympathetic for the old lecher’s fate. Never really having the idealistic views a lot of teenage girls had the luxury of growing up with about how the world was ultimately a safe and happy place. Sure Finn had always been there to try and protect her from the worst of what her family and NW had to offer, but she’d always been too curious for her own good and that way led to discoveries that she never really planned on sharing with anyone anytime soon. Unconscious then of how her right hand had fallen to rest in her lap, palm covering her lower stomach idly. Suddenly feeling a little too empty which prompted her to take a more than a healthy sip, welcoming the brisk slap of it to her senses.
“For now,” she replied. Not wanting to give any false hope when she still had no idea where she stood with Finn. Part of her silently criticizing the fact that she was even considering running off again. But right now she just didn’t know how much extra hurt that she could carry. “I left after my internship was over with this really great photographer and I was offered a trial spot in her studio, but by then I knew I had to come back.”
She didn’t want to think about the likelihood she had of getting another shot at that position if she needed to so she shook the thought away. “How about you? This starting to feel like home yet?”
