"Get-- him--" Fwump. Bobby was rolled off of Adalina, and she started to shakily stand even as the cops asked her something or talked to each other or whatever they were doing; she was too busy stumbling and catching herself on an upside-down treadmill.
And then she was too busy retching.
The cops did end up handcuffing Bobby based on the dispatch information, and with the help of some crow bars, they pried apart the metal trapping Regin.
Adalina wiped at her mouth with the back of her arm, content to let the blanket draped over her sort of hide her. She watched Regin closely, trying to commit her face to memory, until an EMT shone a light in her eyes. "I'm fine," she said, and shoved the man's hand away. "I'll deliver my statement tomorrow. Someone take me home."
With a final creeeeaaak, the crowbars made an opening for Regin.
