"I'm going out for a bit!" Ian called from the doorway though he wasn't sure if anyone was around to hear, "I'll be back before curfew!" Logically, he knew that keeping the whole thing with Belle a secret from Teddy wasn't fair, but it wasn't like he'd been totally forthcoming with information about his own girlfriend from last summer either. Granted, Ian didn't exactly want to know anything but judging from the fight they'd had, he'd assumed that Teddy hadn't wanted to know either. The fact that Lena had ended up caught in the omission was only an accident. He hadn't taken her feelings into account at all and though he probably deserved to be left out of whatever was going on with him, it didn't make him feel any better. In fact, the more he thought about the the more the ugly feeling in his stomach flip flopped and made him queasy. They hadn't really talked about anything after they'd finally made up, content to just sweep things under the rug and go on with life as they knew it. But if Ian was honest, he knew that something hadn't quite been the same in all that time. Every time something needed to be said, they'd say it explosively and then cool off and never talk about it again. Ian needed to talk about it, but he didn't want to risk another fight with Teddy. Figures that that just ended up in another fight. He was upset, but not at Teddy or even Lena. It wasn't even really directed at himself, it was just a general all around feeling of upset-ness and that's why he needed this walk: to clear his head. Before he knew it, he was at a park and if he'd learned anything from movies it was that empty swingsets were a great place to do some thinking. He thought about texting Teddy, just to let him know that he knew that he'd blown him off to hang out with Lena but he really didn't want to interrupt them if anything was happening. Instead, he scrolled through his contacts until he got to Izzie. Even seeing her name made him feel a little better, Izzie felt like the only person he'd been able to speak honestly to in the past couple of months. He'd been grateful for her company and their quiet study time together, so he texted her to see if she wanted to come hang out for a bit. Maybe talk a little. When she replied with an affirmative, he sighed with relief and kicked around on the swing enjoying the crisp night air. |
