Eddie didn't think it would ever be possible to be comfortable going into the Facility. Normally Siobhan was good making house calls or phone interviews to insure either or both Tristan and Eddie were following protocols, so she had the luck of rarely needing to go in. But the killswitch in the back of her neck had been bothering her for days and to avoid getting blown to bits for trying to stop the buzzing that was running into her brain, she asked for Siobhan to go with her to get it looked at. Her mind was already heavy with the events earlier this week. One of her old friends (flames? FWBs? acquaintances?) had been killed. While she hadn't stayed in touch with him after her life had been entirely upended, it was more a reminder that even more of her past was gone. Her mother was dead, childhood home sold to another family, high school condemned, and now the gang that she'd considered family for so long disbanded or dead. All she had was what was around her and before her and...waiting in prison. While, for the most part, it just meant she needed to continue moving forward, it was a more terrifying prospect than before. Where was she going to go if Forward failed? It was a lot of heavy thoughts for what was already going to be a heavy morning. She'd gotten time out of work and told her CNA trainer that she'd be a couple hours late just to meet Siobhan at the Facility. They didn't get much time to talk before Eddie was strapped in, probed, and basically dehumanized - as was apparently standard procedure. Another bandage, a couple of pills. She was going to wear her hair up today for training, so good luck explaining that. Afterward, she sat in the office with Siobhan as the doctor went over basic tests. As the door opened, she could hear crowds of voices from outside. "We've been sporadically getting rioters." He explained, but not too kindly. "They think Handlers aren't doing their jobs keeping theirs in line." A sharp look towards Siobhan. "We're all getting the fallout of super hate." "Sucks to be you." Eddie muttered with about as much sympathy as one could squeeze on the head of a pin. |
