While Sam had again proven himself to the Gang and was no longer under house arrest, the scrutinizing eye of his teammates was always felt. His position in this underground organization had been rocked and even if Rodriguez attested he'd done the right thing by killing Jacobs, several people still questioned Sam's motive. They weren't wrong. It had causes a sizable rift between him and the rest of the crew, which, while being ostracized had its pains, was a fortuitous turn. He's used his personal time wisely, keeping an eye out on Evren whenever he could. Sometimes he came so close that he could almost touch his brother, but he never did. Evren, for the most part, seemed to be doing well enough. Sam knew it wasn't entirely true, though, and it stung at him that his brother was right there and yet again the furthest he'd ever been. His whole family deserved more from him. He didn't even know why he was doing this anymore. But then he discretely saves the life of some powered teenager and he remembers briefly. That was last night. This morning Sam woke up with a different plan in mind. He'd seen Siobhan on morning jogs around the same park where he spent his days fishing – days long past for having only been months ago – and thought it was time he'd speak with her. If he was somewhat paranoid about being caught, he had his justifications, but two joggers "bumping" into each other seemed inconspicuous enough. So that was what he did. Literally. "I'm sorry." He said to Siobhan with a steady hand on her shoulder. "I tried to dodge the bicyclist. Are you alright?" It was going to throw her that he acted like a stranger to her, but there was a knowing smile in his eyes which told a different story. It was good to see her again. For better or worse, she'd become his primary lifeline to the world outside of the Gang. |
