Things weren't going exactly storybook with Tristan and his wife, per usual. It wasn't like he should have expected too much. The man had made his mistakes which led to him being a father at sixteen, the mother a convicted murderer. It was a miracle they even allowed him to become a criminal attorney after what he'd done but everything was kept very under wraps. Danny was ten years old and he had a new mother for the last few years in the way of a pleasant kindergarten teacher.
She was so different from the normal fiery personality that attracted him that he'd really hoped he could turn his life around with her. The problem is that people who decide to go with the exact opposite of their desires to change their lives often get what they want, their lives change, just not for the better. You can't make your life better simply by denying everything you are.
As expected he now spent most of his time out of the house... as far away from his undesired wife as possible. Her sweet nature made his stomach turn. At least he still had his younger sister to keep him sober company but tonight she wasn't around so tonight he was seeking the non-sober kind of company. Bars were great for that.
A woman was singing up on the little makeshift stage and he couldn't deny that after a lot of beer and whiskey... he was enjoying watching her sway as much as listening to her sing. The way he looked at her was almost predatory in intention but not in the kind of way that would put a stranger off, it was all attraction and no ill intent. Her singing voice was more than amazing, it pierced through him and even when a woman came up to say hello to him he gave her a stern look and waved her away.
No. He'd already decide who he was leaving with tonight, either the singer or no one. Something about her called to him and there was no other woman in the room.
