"No, hell no, why would I move her there? That place is a trash heap." Eddie chatted away with Frank on the phone as she speed-walked to her next destination. Rabah had a car that she hadn't really used in years - in fact, Eddie was the one who used it more often than not. But getting a license was just something else on the list of things she needed to do this month. But Rabah was home for now and that was a good place to start. Rushing through St. Genevieve to get to the metro, Eddie had a good couple hours before she got to work, but she needed as many hours as she could get, boss' orders be damned. Days were blurring together at an unfathomable rate. Her converse slapped against the pavement as she cut through an alley, cheerleader ponytail swinging back and forth as she blazed a trail down the throat of it. Eddie charged out the mouth of it into the heart of the restaurant district - dozens of restaurants lined in a row and across from each other, each boasting a dozen outside tables with hungry patrons. The place was packed with people, but it was a bizarre twist of fate that had Eddie spotting Tristan's profile as he sat at a table with a woman. Eddie paused and reversed back into the alleyway. "Frank - Frank. You know that weird coincidence thing that always happens with Tristan? Well I found him. No, he - no, he doesn't see me. What? ...No, I'm not stalking him. What do I sound like to you, Overly Attached Girlfriend?" She glanced back around the rim of the building to catch a look at the woman sitting with him. Blonde, feline expression, and ivory skin. An incredibly beautiful woman. Eddie reckoned she was either a professor or Tristan's handler. Damn, though. That woman was fine. Eddie had no problem admitting she was a healthy bisexual woman. "Frank - seriously, she's gorgeous." She explained as she then detailed the woman sitting with him. "She's got this smile like she knows exactly when the world's going to end. She - oh shit." Eddie ducked back into the alleyway the moment the woman's eyes lifted to see hers. A crooked smile adjoined the connection, forcing Eddie to slam her back into the brick of the building. "She saw me. I'm going to get caught." Two seconds. Five seconds. Ten seconds. Eddie eeeeased to look around the corner again. The woman was looking away, but her eyes flitted back, the same coy smile. Eddie felt herself fighting the blush on her cheeks. "I feel like I should be jealous. Intensely jealous. How does a straight guy work with someone like that and give flowers to someone like me. I'd give her flowers. For starters." The spell broke as both the woman and Tristan seemed to complete their meeting, each standing from their little table. "Frank, I need to go." Eddie pressed herself against the wall again, willing them away. She needed to cross the street and for now decided to wait until some assumed All Clear. |
