Introducing Cissie King-Jones. Warning: History Lesson in progress!
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! I give you Suzanne 'Cissie' King-Joes, aka Arrowette! She's taken from Young Justice canon, with a bit of a twist, I've put the school the state put her in in Star City, California instead of Pennsylvania. And, as it is sometimes illuded to in the comics, Cissie in this game IS the biological daughter of Mr. Oliver Queen. BUT! She doesn't know it. As far as Cissie knows, her father is Bernelle Jones - a former Star City newspaper reporter who ded when she was five.
Cissie is PBed by Alona Tal, her mother Bonnie is PBed by Emma Thompson (and she'll be brought in probably later this week.) Cissie is not registered, nor does she have ANY plans on registering. If she did, the government would see she is a minor and make her stop her activities. And she does not accept that as an acceptable course of actions
For those of you who don't know Cissie's history or aren't familiar with the character, I give you HISTORY TIME! This will give you a comprehensive look into the King-Joneses (I will be bringing Bonnie in too so consider this an into to both)
Bonnie King (Cissie's mother) was a bronze medalist at the olympics, and had a mother named Millie who was very much a stage mother. She pushed Bonnie to be better and better, and when she brought home the bronze Millie was extremely disappointed (it could be argued that it was emotional abuse). Anyway, Millie and Bonnie had a falling out, Bonnie gave up archery for good and moved to Star City where she was inspired by the stories of Green Arrow and Speedy. They were doing something with their archery, and she decided to become a crime fighter herself. She called herself Miss Arrowette, and while yes she had a few big takedowns, in continuity this was the 1960s and she was actually a would-be sidekick and the wiki describes her as a general nusance. Bonnie didn't wear a mask when she was in the field, and eventually she started dating Oliver Queen (get it? Bonnie King, Oliver Queen? Yes ladies and gents, the writers did that intentionally). Eventually, after a failed takedown where GA and Speedy cleaned up the mess she met Bernelle Jones, who was so thin she called him bowstring, and she used him as her aide de camp. Anyway, Bonnie is surviving by doing temp work and she gets carpal tunnel syndome and has to give up her own archery. So she marries Bernelle and they have Cissie... except (as only Bonnie knows) Cissie isn't ACTUALLY his kid.
When Cissie was five, the man she knew as her father died after eating bad shellfish and Bonnie got a large insurance payout, and from then on, her daughter's future was planned out for her. Admittedly, Bonnie may not have meant it to be a such, but with the money Bonnie tried to give cissie everything that Millie had 'denied' her when she was growing up, this included ballet lessons, grace, poise, martial arts, and of course archery - expanding upon her already natural gifts, from birth she had a sharper eye than normal and it all fit in. Eventually Bonnie - as Cissie says in her own origin story - had turned into Millie and Cissie had turned into her mother, being somewhat forced into becoming a hero, the new Arrowette, with Bonnie driving in a car giving her directions through a two way radio.
After a somewhat impromptu meeting and teamup with Impulse and his mentor Max Mercury, Max saw what Bonnie was doing and called child services. Cissie was removed from Bonnie's custody, despite the fact that she hired Jean Loring the lawyer (and the wife of The Atom) to represent her. After being removed, Cissie was sent to the Elias School - an all girls boarding school (which I've moved to Star City) - while Bonnie was ordered into counciling by the court. Upon arrival at the Elias School, Cissie was placed under the supervision of the school's psychiatris, Dr. Marcey Money - who during a session accidently put it in her head that she could better get back at her mother by being a better Arrowette than her mother ever had been. Given that the court record is sealed and the doctor is held by her doctor-patient confidentiality, despite the fact that she knows whats going on, she can't legally tell anyone about it. Thus Cissie's secret is safe. She has been a ward of the state for a little over a year and a half; she's currently 16 turning 17 in a few months.
So that's the history. She's 16. Nice, friendly, but has carved a life for herself at the school. By night she dons her costume, and patrols Star City... basically trying to keep off of the Arrows' radar. Why? Because she doesn't think anything good can come from mixing with the main hero. That he'd try to make he stop. And in som ways, taking up the costume again isn't just a way of getting back at her mother, but also the ultimate show of her own personal freedom.
So this is Cissie (and her mother >.< ) in a nutshell. I'd love to plot :D Feel free to hit me up here or on AIM :D and now, I am off to bed :D -Abby
