Peter was always grateful for the weekends; it meant he was allowed to get away from the boring school work that Atlantis forced on him (though he had to admit, the history and culture of Atlantis was rather fascinating), and instead he could focus on getting his hands dirty down in the labs of the engineering department here on Atlantis. He was only an intern, but he was already far and away catching up to plenty of the techs that had been working there for years, and so he found himself spending more and more time there, getting more and more acquainted to what he was dealing with here in Atlantis.
The technology nearly left Peter salivating; a kid who’d built his lenses, web-shooters, and computers from dumpster scraps, to a kid who ran around with Stark Tech strapped around his shoulders, to now dealing with interdimensional, other-wordly technology that expanded far beyond anything he’d even seen the Avengers, and therefore Stark, put out. It was something he wanted to play with, delve into, understand on a level he never thought he’d ever be able to. Arriving at the facility, he bounced on his feet, impatiently waiting for the lift to open up to allow him to go down. Wearing his black ‘I lost an Electron, are you Positive’ shirt, pair of jeans, and some sneakers, as well as his headphones; Peter fiddled with his web shooter, while he actually half-wondered if he could improve on Mr. Stark’s design by incorporating some of the tech here in Atlantis. Or would that be some Back to the Future, Doc Brown, don’t touch things you’re not meant to touch sort of thing? Right. He should probably leave it alone. But imagine webs that could change their consistency. Exploding webs, oh that was cool! With great technology, came dangerously fun experiments, after all. His mind was already a wonder even before the lift finally opened and the young Queens-bred hero moved inside and ready to spring into action. Atlantis was amazing. Steve was on mission, so Shuri hadn't actually seen her guardian or Bucky Barnes yet - the two people she actually had met that were here. After enjoying a butterbeer with Parvati Patil from Harry freaking Potter, she decided to check out this base that seemed to be where all the technology was being kept, where the labs, the equipment, and all the things she wanted to get her hands on as soon as possible. As she entered the lab after going through checks and needing someone who was kind enough to show her the right direction. The directions weren't the problem it was she'd just arrived and needed to be let into a couple of places. Luckily that wasn't too difficult, and she didn't have to break in which was an added benefit. Seeing a boy around her age, she tilted her head amused for a moment, admittedly a little puzzled, but she grinned all the same. "What's on your mind? You look like you've got an idea working in there." Nodding she shrugged, "I might be able to help. I'm Shuri." Peter rubbed his hands together a moment, fiddling with his web shooter, bouncing on the balls of his feet, then looked over to the other who’d joined him. Blinking, he seemed a bit shocked she was talking to him, and looked around as if to suggest there might be someone else around him, then back to her once more, shrugging his shoulders, “Oh, uh… me? Yea, oh, nothing. Just kind of excited to play around with some of the tech. Saturday’s the only day I get to spend as much time as possible here.” The rest of the time he was in school, something he didn’t think was necessary; he was top of his class at Midtown, he already had an award winning invention in his damn web shooters, plus he and Ned had managed to hack into and override a multi-million dollar Stark tech suit. Frankly he thought he could get by without school, but then again, he didn’t know all that much about Atlantis’s tech. He held his hand out towards her, “Hi Shuri, by the way, I’m Peter. And yea, I mean I have some ideas, but well…” He shrugged, nothing to hide there in Atlantis, “I was trying to work in my brain if it would be a good or bad idea to try and integrate some Atlantis stuff into my tech. But probably shouldn’t.” |
